HUD-Will the Department be eliminated? Probably not.
Have to disagree. He may have the right intentions but zero experience. He’s a doctor. Why not surgeon general, if anything?

Carson is clearly a genius, but is that really a great fit for his knowledge base? Isn’t that a little like using Barry Bonds as a point guard? Or Eli Manning as your shortstop?
If the idea is simply to find a spot for Carson, why not Veterans’ Affairs? (Let him reform the Veterans’ hospitals.)
You know who would be absolutely at HUD, if he didn’t have a more important role? Donald Trump. ;-)

Carson has said he’s not interested in a position in the Trump cabinet. I think Trump should respect Carson’s wishes.

Why is there even such a cabinet post? Who really cares about some nobody with no influence prances around in some make-shift military uniform? The CDC director is enough.

I think President Trump meant HHS and not HUD.
How about this? “Look, Ben. I’ve really gotten to know you and I trust you. I want you around for counsel. Why don’t I set you up in a Cabinet role for now, in an area I’m planning on eliminating anyway, and you can work your way out of the job”?

Exactly! As I posted on here about a week ago, I think the immediate house-cleaning and reform of the VA is almost a first priority.
President Trump absolutely needs to convene a meeting of all VA regional managers as well as VA Hospital administrators and have what I’ll call a “Come To Jesus” meeting where he threatens to rain hellfire (ex: immediate job loss) on everyone unless immediate reforms are made and patient care improves.
The goodwill and political mileage he could get from this (not to mention that it’s the right thing to do) would be immeasurable.
