They’re talking about Michael Savage being banned, not Donald Trump.
I already tweeted the Trumpster to ask the Queen for the Churchill bust back.
I hope they have a formal ceremony when they bring it back.
The Queen of England has invited Donald Trump.
In reaction some have lofted the idea that he should refuse until Michael Savage can go to Britain again.
Folks, God love ya, but some of your priorities are just strange.
Michael Savage is someone I have listened to in the past. He’s good on issues and sometimes off the beaten track. He’s a hit and a miss for me. I don’t mind if others like him more than I do, but holding this visit up due to Michael Savage’s fate? Ridiculous.
We have just had an insolent child who insulted Britain every chance he got over the last eight years. And now you folks seem to think the best way to patch relations is to raise the issue of Michael Savage right now. Wow!
The Queen invited Trump. To tell her no or make her jump through hoops before he agreed, would be a massive insult to the British people.
Please folks, do not set up these low hurdles for Trump to jump over before you are happy. You’ll be continually unhappy if you do, because many things are far more important than this issue.
Trump had a remarkable platform with many very important things on it. Anyone choosing to be unhappy for some lesser thing that Trump doesn’t do, are so far off base I doubt they can see it. And it seems like they have proven that here.
That would be nice.
Did Her Majesty issue the restriction on Savage? What is her real role in the power structure?
And another said a benevolent dictatorship is the purest form of government. The only hitch being the benevolent dictator eventually kicks the bucket and thereafter chaos.
-—The Queen oversaw the forfeit of her Nation to Islam.-—
Not sure if you tongue and cheek, but the British haven’t forfeited their nation to Islam...
Are they having issues, sure but hardly the nation was given over...
Poor production and Levin was out of his depth.
Tongue in cheek. Yes. But sharia no go zones? Explain that!
I am the son of Welsh immigrants. Mountain Ash specifically. I dont get it.
I think a biographer of the Queen once wrote that regardless of political factions, dissension and the voting in and out of various leaders, the British people can always sing ‘God save the Queen (King)!’ The monarchy itself is something symbolical and meaningful that remains steady throughout.
Still, I’ll take our system. It’s worked out pretty well, through even our worst times. And we can always sing our songs, too, which honor principles and ideals, rather than a human figurehead.
After eight years of sneering insults, demeaning gifts, “grabby and huggy” from Michelle, and other bad behavior by Obama and his zoo, I expect President Trump will leave Her Majesty and the PM breathless.
Of course his behavior and grace will be impeccable, but he will also likely come bearing treasures representative of both America and Britain and their relationship.
To put this into context, the last fine gift the British presented was a desk made from the timbers of the sister ship of the anti-slavery warship HMS Gannet, which importantly also served in the Mahdist War against Muslim fanatics.
So importantly, it is not just its monetary value, but its historical value and craftsmanship that will make such a gift extraordinary in British eyes, and go miles to repair our relationship.
Which is extra important right now, as behind the scenes the US and Britain will be working very hard on a bilateral trade agreement, because of the Brexit. Getting a smashing good deal between us will mean the EU has to give both Britain and us a better deal on trade.
He needs a bust of Churchill next to one of Patton.
Pray America woke
“but this might be part of making Brexit actually happen. Britain CAN be a key ally, and the Queen of England receiving President Trump respectfully and him NOT going other places can also speak volumes.”
Indeed. If President Trump were to travel anywhere, the U.K. would be the place to visit. But if that were to occur I would like to see President Trump include Nigel Farage as an essential part of the visit. Now THAT would send a message about President Trump’s views on Brexit!
Not just the lighting. The whole thing seemed disjointed, as if some high school kids had produced it. I don’t watch much tv, so maybe I am not up on the latest hip production styles. I am so old-fashioned, I know.
Please allow me to quote myself from a post on an earlier thread:
“President Trump will be both Head of State and Head of Government. In Britain (and other Commonwealth Realm countries, such as Canada), the Queen is Head of State, and the PM is just another grubby politician (Head of Government).
“If President Trump wants to demonstrate the “special relationship” between the USA and Great Britain; he could travel to London as Head of State, for a meeting with the Queen. Buckingham Palace is almost as luxurious as Trump Tower, so he wouldn’t be uncomfortable.
“This would cement the relationship between the two nations, while simultaneously snubbing the politicians, who made the mistake of dissing him. PMs come and go; but, there will always be a Britain.
“Most of us in the Commonwealth would get it.
“Once the point has been made, Trump could schedule another meeting the PM to discuss substantive policy issues (not that he Queen can’t hold her own on that front — but she’s too aware of her constitutional boundaries to do so).”

So yes — it would be great if President (and Head of State) Trump were to visit the Queen (and Head of State) at Buckingham Palace. It would be the perfect opportunity for him to retrieve the statue of Churchill. The symbolism would be clear. A meeting of Heads of State (with whatever Heads of Government left standing in the side-lines) would symbolize the special bond between the nations — while bestowing no approval on the current Head of Government.
It would absolutely make my day if Trump walks into the White House on January 20th holding Churchill’s in his hands.
