Cuban-Americans Voted for Trump at Higher Rate than “White” Americans
Townhall.com ^ | November 19, 2016 | Humberto Fontova

While “White” American voters supported Trump at a rate of 56%, Cuban American voters went for the Republican candidate at a rate of 58%--or perhaps even higher.

Gosh? What could possibly account for this phenomenon?

Well, if the quip “you had to be there” applies anywhere, it’s in explaining the voting habits of Americans of Cuban heritage. By “there” I mean in a communist country—but not as a tourist! Not like the tens of thousands of (mostly pinko) Americans who’ve been visiting Cuba and filling the coffers of Cuba’s terror-sponsoring Stalinist rulers the past few years, thanks to Obama.

No, instead I mean as a subject of a communist nation’s rulers. Voting Republican then becomes a reflex, an instinct—and one that drives liberals absolutely apoplectic.

Let’s take a perfectly representative liberal Democrat: Michael Moore. And if you think Moore is not representative of today’s Democrat party, recall that their Convention in 2004 a smirking Michael Moore was feted by the Democrat party as their honored guest. He sat in a place of honor right next to Jimmy Carter. Remember? :

“Cuban-Americans,” wrote this honored guest of the Democrat party in his book “Downsize This,” “are responsible for sleaze and influence-peddling in American politics. In every incident of national torment that has deflated our country for the past three decades, Cuban exiles are always present and involved.”

Can you imagine the media uproar if a prominent Trump-supporting celebrity—say Jon Voight or Ted Nugent-- denounced Mexican-Americans en masse for “tormenting our country with sleaze?” We’d never hear the end of it.

“Truly disgusting!” was how NBC’s Bryant Gumbel characterized the Cuban-Americans who were (peace fully) protesting the joint shanghaiing of Elian Gonzalez by the Clinton Administration and Castro regime. Yet we search in utter vain for the slightest hint by Gumbel (or any mainstream media pundit) that any demonstration’ by Black Lives Matter” might hint at “disgusting” behavior, despite the wholesale looting and vicious beatings that always characterize them.

A few years ago Georgetown professor Norman Birnbaum, who also served as an advisor to three Democratic presidential candidates and who writes for The Daily Beast, denounced “Miami-Cubans” as a “truly reprehensible!” ethnic group. Back in 2007, one of America’s most influential newspapers, the Washington Post, one that habitually endorses Democrats, ran a cartoon celebrating Cuban-Americans expulsion from the U.S. en masse. No tongue in cheek whatsoever was evident.

Ah! But all this “sleaze and influence-peddling” takes talent, amigos! Around our domino tables we snicker derisively at those bumbling Trilateralists. Between sips of our mojitos, we guffaw and slap our thighs at the incompetence of the Bilderbergers and Rothschilds. We Cuban-Americans are the Illuminati to beat all Illuminati, the slickest of the slick! We watch “Godfather II” and snort scornfully. That was a chump operation Mikey Corleone pulled on Nevada Senator Geary with that dead prostitute. We woulda had him in our pocket for half the trouble

We watch “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington” and direct our boos and hisses at Jimmy Stewart. What a fuddy-duddy.

Oh…and by the way. In this column’s title I put quotation marks around the term “white,” for a reason. Look– I’m not the one who started classifying Americans by ethnicity with regards to their voting habits, etc. Government and media busybodies (mostly liberals) started the practice. OK, fine. It’s a modern fact of life. So let’s live with it.

I’m just saying if they insist on doing this type of thing for political polls, for the government census, for political discussions, etc–then at least do it accurately.

Instead of constantly employing the cumbersome term (from a wordsmith perspective ) “Non-Cuban-Hispanics” to constantly qualify the exasperating (to liberals) political and social habits of Cuban-American–instead of this literary clumsiness–why not simply dump Cuban-Americans from the “Hispanic” or “Latino” classification altogether?

To quote the late Joan Rivers, “Can we talk?”

(WARNING! If you’re offended by facts about ethnicity seek a safe space NOW!)

“White” used to be synonymous with “Caucasian,” also meaning European. Spain is a nation in Europe comprising most of the Iberian Peninsula which was known as Hispania when part of the Roman Empire. This area of Europe was originally peopled mostly by Celtic tribes.

Unlike the rest of what came to be known as Latin America, when Columbus landed Cuba had a tiny indigenous population. Most of these hapless Native Americans quickly perished, mostly from disease also from brutalities by the settlers. So by the 1700 Cuba was populated overwhelmingly by Spaniards. Later African slaves were brought in to work the sugar plantations. But according to the UN in 1957 Cuba’s population was 71 % white.

Oh, I know…I know….For the crime of presenting these historical facts I’m about to be denounced as a “racist.” I can sense it. So here I’ll turn over the floor to a Marxist Mexican (that should cover most of the bases):

“Cuba has a tremendous advantage in national integration over other Latin American countries because of a largely homogeneous white Spanish immigrant base,” wrote UN economist (and Mexican Marxist) Juan Noyola who in 1960 was invited to Cuba by the island’s “Minister of Economics” Che Guevara. “Cuba’s smaller Negro population is also culturally integrated. Those feudal modes of labor that exist in the rest of Latin America, don’t exist in Cuba. The Cuban campesino does not resemble the one in the rest of Latin America. The Cuban campesino, in all respects, is a modern man. They have an educational level and a familiarity with modern methods unseen in the rest of Latin America.”

Bottom line: given all the above factors, when it comes to “deplorable” behavior and causing liberal heads to explode, Cuban-Americans have long been –to quote Freddie Mercury—“The Champion Deplorables of the World!”

Refugees from Commuinsm tend to be unappreciative of government in general and stay off of welfare better than , say, Guatemalans, or Syrians. The Vietnamese and the Cubans who came over in large numbers have become more self sufficient than any other minority and both seem to be naturally drawn to starting businesses and hiring people. The Koreans, though not coming from a Communist homeland have that business orientation, too and that healthy adverse reaction to government.

“Yes, they’re white: Spaniards who took a detour into Cuba for a couple of generations.”

I never have understood the terms Hispanic or Latino. The terms are derived from two European countries with long civilized histories. And the terms apply to Third World socialist countries. For the most part. It seems they ought to come up with their own terms instead of stealing some from Europe.

" I suspect Trump got a higher percentage of the African American vote generally than the 8% that the media are reporting."

Is that the real official number at this point? BS.

Correct..... most Cubans are white.... true Spanish heritage...

The Demoncrats think anyone who speaks Spanish is Hispanic......

The cultural and language differences between White Cubans and Mexicans is huge.....

Although they both speak Spanish, Mexican Spanish is considered gutter Spanish by Cubans who still speak proper European Spanish

Hispanics are very different depending on their country of origin, their ethnic background

Very true, and the Democraps think anybody south of California are all the same. Assuming that Mexicans, Peruvians, and Costa Ricans are all the same is simplistic and ignorant.

Whenever I've visited a "hispanic" country, I've 99% of the time been impressed with how tight they are with family and good values. How often do you see American kids hanging with mom, dad, and baby sister in a mall food court on a Friday night? I think it sucks that liberals always kick them to the side and cater to ones that flout the system, sell drugs, and engage in human-trafficking.

Mexican Spanish is a mix between Spanish, and various regional Indian dialects. Some of Mexico speaks primarily Castilian Spanish, but in general, there are roughly 7,000 Spanish dialects in Mexico.

The brown Mexicans are those who descend from one of many native Indian tribes which also includes native American Indians. Many Native American Indian tribes went south to trade with the Mexican people.

In the US, many who are labeled Hispanic, aren’t Hispanic at all! They are Native American Indians who sought shelter in the Spanish Catholic Forts when the west was being inhabited by settled Europeans from the east. The white man had guns, the Indians didn’t and the Indian population was being wiped out. Therefore they sought shelter in those Spanish Catholic Forts for their survival. They were ‘Christianized’, and took on Spanish Surnames in addition to learning the Spanish and Latin languages. In those days the Catholic church used Latin as a central language in order to communicate with one another so that no matter what country a priest came from, he could speak to another priest.

The cultural differences between the Indian Hispanic and the Mexican Hispanic exist and is most notable in their art and clothing styles, as well as the colors they use in art and clothing. Depending on which tribe the Indian Mexican descends from will also influences attitude. Some tribes were very petty and hatefully vindictive while others were more laid back, kind and generous.

Many of the Mexican Spanish today consider the South Western United States as their own cultural lands because not only did the American Indian travel south for trade, but the Mexican Indian also traveled North for trade. The barrier was the Arkansas River. Anything north of the Arkansas was American Indian territory, anything south of it was Mexican Indian Territory. See Bent’s Fort History for more details.

This is why LaRaza exists. They feel that their territorial ancestral home was infringed through what they consider to be an illegal purchase of the land from France. (Louisiana Purchase) and is why many Mexicans pour over the border and hate whites.

At the same time, the American Indian Hispanic sometimes has Spanish or French blood, too! Some of my descendants married into Native American Hispanic families. Some of them are very aware of their ancestors, some of whom were from Spain. Some of their homes are decorated with American Indian arts..blankets, paintings, jewelry, decorative items common to Indian ancestry, but you sit down at the table to Spanish foods...sometimes Indian foods as well.

But if you go into the homes of Hispanics who are not of native American heritage, you find different tastes in art and decorations. Instead of Indian blankets you will find Mexican blankets. You find the bold, bright colors of Mexico such as bold greens and Yellows and reds. The Indian blankets would contain more muted colors of the desert sunset for example instead of the colors of parrots.

All of these minor nuances make a difference in cultural attitudes. Hispanics who have been here for generations resent what even THEY call “Wetbacks”. There’s a huge difference in attitude socially as well.

I imagine similar differences exist between the Caribbean Hispanics as well. Many of the Caribbean Hispanics are Jewish descendants. Columbus’s goal was to find a safe place for the ousted Jewish population from Spain in the 1490’s, so there will be cultural nuances among this group that may or may not exist in the Southwestern Mexican/American Hispanics.

I say may or may not exist in Southwestern Hispanic populations because another safe haven for ousted Hebrews was...south America. There are many artifacts within the western States containing indications of the existence of Hebrew culture from a very long time ago. Some of which is written in Paleo Hebrew.

All of these mixed societies are a blend of the different peoples they descended from as are white European Americans.

It’s the most natural thing in the world for birds of a feather to flock together. So when the democrats seek to desegregate and bust up places heavy in a particular cultural group, they are in reality doing a disservice to not only that particular group, but to all groups of peoples. It’s very natural for people to prefer what they are most familiar with, but the democrat labels that, racism.

And yes, there most certainly ARE traits common to particular cultural groups! Unless those traits involve crime, then there is nothing at all wrong with having cultural traits! Even the democrats have them. Take the ‘ruling class’ democrats for example. You don’t see them moving into the hovels of the black inner city neighborhoods, do you? They aren’t sending THEIR kids to the inner city, financially struggling schools, do you?

They send their kids to the top rated public schools and yes, all schools have a rating.

As far as I can see, democrats are refusing to learn the difference between their opinions and reality. They think the voice inside their heads is reality. Normal people realize that when voices exist, it’s a sign of some sort of psychosis.

You can’t lump people into one basket...there are too many variables.

But we were told it was the old guard that didn’t like the deal with Cuba but the younger ones had come around to it, more flawed info from the mainstream press.

Well said; around Santa Fe, Northern New Mexico, Southern Colorado, are indeed, descendants from the Conquistadors along with Native American ancestry.

When the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock, you could already eat in a restaurant and stay in a hotel in Santa Fe. Maybe St. Augustine Florida was similar.

We all appreciate the patriotism of the Cuban Americans in Miami and their support for Trump, a guy who has taken this job at great cost and sacrifice in order to destroy the American left and make our country great again.

Trump lost Dade county by about 300,000 votes, about 900,000 votes cast in Dade and the communist bitch got 600,000 of them, 50,000 more than Obama did in 2012.

ILLEGAL ALIENS VOTED IN MASSIVE NUMBERS IN DADE COUNTY.

Voting reform is not an option.

I’ll bet that a majority of Cuban-American refugees had family members and friends tortured and executed by the Castro Brothers and Che Guevera.
THEY REMEMBER.

The Communist Party USA and supporting Castroite groups such as the Center for Cuban Studies, Tricontinental Information Center, Venceremos Brigade, and Committee for 20/26, made some headway into the younger Cuban-American community to get them to support the dropping of the trade embarge/travel embargo against Communist Cuba, but the majority of “Those who know” remained loyal to America and freedom.

They know communism and recognize a communist when they see one and they recognized Hillary for who she is and what she would do the country: she would take lessons from Castro, or maybe she doesn’t need any anymore, knows enough on jer own.

Cuban-Americans have been a powerful force for good in Florida - good citizens, good neighbors and you're right - they don't fall for the "marxist/lite" line... They remember.
