Trump's attorney general pick is about to come face to face with decades-old allegations of racism
Business Insider ^ | 11/18/2016 | Allan Smith

Sen. Jeff Sessions of Alabama is about to face a wave of intense scrutiny as he seeks confirmation to become attorney general and head the Justice Department in President-elect Donald Trump's upcoming administration.

Trump said Friday that it was an "honor to nominate" a "world-class legal mind" to the position. Sessions said, should he be confirmed, that he will give "all my strength to advance" its "highest ideals" and will be dedicated to "fairness and impartiality."

But Sessions is likely to face heavy examination over his overall record, as well as decades-old allegations of racism that are now certain to be hashed out in public.

Sessions, prior to his 20-year Senate career, served as a US attorney and as attorney general of Alabama. While serving as a US attorney for the state's southern district, he was nominated to be a federal district court judge by President Ronald Reagan in 1986.

His nomination, however, was rejected by the Republican-controlled Senate Judiciary Committee — a committee on which he now serves — because of racially charged comments and actions that he denied. It was only the second time in nearly 50 years the committee stunted a judicial nomination.

“Trump’s attorney general pick is about to come face to face with decades-old allegations of racism.”

We. Do. Not. Care.

Racism has been so grossly abused and overused by the thumb-sucking, mouth-breeding, snot-gobbling, intellectually inbred left that it no longer has any real meaning.

Lefties gratuitously playing the race card. What a surprise.

They can't stop him from being confirmed. All they can do is smear him and try and weaken him.

DrudgeReport has a link to a (Sessions) “desegregated schools, prosecuted kkk head” NR story on him.

The liberal Republican governor of AL is anti-Trump; could the Sessions Senate seat go Democrat?

Move on. Nothing to see here

So Sessions wasn't rejected by the Republican controlled Judiciary Committee in 1986?

Are you saying Allan Smith made that up?

It is much easier finding an effective Attorney General then an effective Conservative Senator who is not corporatist, a backstabber or a rino.

You may want to contact Senator Sessions and President-Elect Trump. Explain your theory and urge Sessions to decline the appointment.

sessions WILL enforce immigration laws.

Mark my words the immigration battle will be the toughest one to win. For some reason it is the one issue that stands out with the Dems and RINOs as being one they don't want to fix, they want to leave it alone and let illegal labor continue to pour in daily. I have come to the conclusion they must make the most $$$$$$ from this one issue!

As another poster said this appointment is a hill to fight for, and we must win.

They are already attacking people who voted for Trump as racist, of course they are going to label all his choices and policies as racist. I have noticed that term does not carry the weight it used to. It truly is worn out, now if someone mentions it in conversation it is taken as a joke and not as a serious accusation as it used to be taken.

This is one to watch. Sessions will be tough on border issues and illegal immigration, that will be enough to get RINOs out from under their rocks. This will flush out all those who do not want the border secure or immigration laws enforced.
