President-elect Donald Trump will tap Sen. Jeff Sessions to be his Attorney General, according to Bloomberg News and the New York Times.
Sessions, the first U.S. Senator to endorse Trump, was rumored for a number of positions in Trumps cabinet, including Department of Homeland Security and Department of Defense but it appears that the former Attorney General of Alabama has been selected for the highest law and order position in the administration.
Sen. Ted Cruz was also rumored for the position after he was spotted at Trump Tower, meeting with the president elect.
The official announcement from Trumps transition team is expected later today.
In addition, Rep. Mike Pompeo has been selected by Trump as CIA director ...

I believe that Sessions for AG assures us that Obama will pardon Killary before leaving office. The Dems know what will happen once Sessions takes over.
I still want Rudy for State. Someone needs to do serious investigations of Foggy Bottom and their lack of accountability.
Good choice. He is a straight shooter.
You will learn to live with it over time. You will except it is okay to wake up every morning feeling good.
Just be patient and give it time.
I was hoping Sessions would stay in the Senate. He is desperately needed there. But if his replacement is a Sessions protege, we might be OK.
Me too. I have a stitch in my side from laughing so much this morning.
In one week Trump has gone from "...Way behind the eight-ball..." on making appointments, to "...forcing the Media to drink from a fire hose" just trying to keep up with this blistering tornado of a human dynamo.
As much fun as this is, it's just going to keep getting better, and better, and better. What a masterstroke of amazing luck! America is BACK!!!!
“How does “Assistant Associate Director of Food Labeling” sound. “
How about PLO (Permanent Latrine Orderly)? I’m sure he can make all those toilet seats snap to attention on command and in unison.
Get back Loretta!
Kelly Ann stated that Trump’s SCOTUS list has not been altered.
Cruz’s name isn’t on it.
You seemed to be aware of that, but I wasn’t sure others were.
I haven't heard much about Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange or State Senators Pittman and Ward, but I believe they are all probably solid conservatives.
I would personally like to see Rep. Mo Brooks of Huntsville get the appointment, but Governor Bentley is also a RINO who endorsed Kasich in the primaries and who said he would not vote for Trump in the election.
I expect he will appoint a milquetoast Republican to the seat; however, a special election must be held to fill the seat within 60 days of the vacancy.

Very good to know that Alabama requires a pretty quick special election to fill a vacant US Senate seat!
Looks like a good chance to make it a referendum on RINOs.
Finally, a real Attorney General!
Jeff Sessions should have any position he desires in the Trump Administration.
He is that capable and he earned it by being perhaps the most important and effective adviser Trump had during the campaign. The man defines “gravitas”.
Senator John Tower was rejected by Senate when nominated for Secretary of Defense in 1989.
But it is rare, that is the only case I can recall. The smear campaign was very strong there. I don’t know if his “problems” were as strong as the Democrats painted but they went all-out against him.
[Wiki]: “In 1989, Tower was President George H. W. Bush’s choice to become Secretary of Defense. But in a stunning move particularly given that Tower was himself a former Senate colleague the United States Senate rejected his nomination. The largest factors were concern about possible conflicts of interest and Tower’s personal life, in particular allegations of alcohol abuse and womanizing[13][14] The Senate vote was 4753,[15] and it marked the first time that the Senate had rejected a Cabinet nominee of a newly elected president.”
Does AG have a connection to immigration?
Indeed. My hope is cooler heads prevail and we all work together.
Agreed. Not sure who we’ll get now. Another poster didn’t inspire much confidence with regard to the current governor of Alabama.
I don’t see it. His experience fits SC.
