U.S. Rep. Stephen F. Lynch says its time for the Democratic Party to get back to its roots and refocus on speaking about the issues facing white, blue-collar workers now that the Republican Party has seized control of the White House and retained both the House and Senate.
This is a rebuilding year, I think we have to look at the results and where our weaknesses are, an introspective Lynch told the Herald yesterday, three days after President-elect Donald Trump cruised to a surprise victory over Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
We are very, very progressive and sometimes we overlook that there are people in this country who struggle who happen to be white, Lynch said. They are going to work every day and they havent had a raise in a long, long time, but the Democrats dont talk much about them.
White voters, who made up roughly 70 percent of the electorate, overwhelmingly supported Trump over Clinton by 21 points, according to exit polling data.

They forgot one thing, there are a lot more people (of all races) without college degrees. The blue-collar guys that used to be the backbone of the Democrat Party back when they actually cared about the little guy and gal. It cost them. White men with no college degree went 72-23 for Trump. White women with no college degree went 62-34 for Trump (for white college graduates, men went 54-39 for Trump while women went 51-45 for Clinton).
Ignoring them cost the Dems Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Iowa, Pennsylvania, Florida, the White House, Senate, House, a bunch of governorships and state legislatures...and soon the Supreme Court.
Now just like how the GOP had an "autopsy report" that claimed we needed to embrace amnesty to attract the Hispanic vote, I would not doubt there will be something similar for the Dems about trying to attract more blue-collar whites. Imagine that undoubtedly uncomfortable discussion behind closed doors at the DNC! How exactly are they going to try and win them back? Appealing to whites will no doubt anger the minority members of the coalition. They do not wish to appear racist. Trying to win back white men may make them look racist and sexist!
Well Dems good luck with that task. Here is a hint: don't paint a broad brush and say that all working-class whites are a bunch of racist, sexist, xenophobic, homophobic and God knows what else. It is hard to accuse them of "white privilege" when they are struggling pretty badly.
Oh, one more thing Dems...Trump won (and even got 25% of the Hispanic vote). Hello border wall. Hello deportations. Say goodbye to your illegal alien vote.
GEEEZ! Really! Do Ya Think?
Good Luck with ‘rebuilding.’
You’ve got nobody warming up in the On Deck Circle! NOBODY!
Best. Election. Ever. EVER! :)
Dems need thier head checked, aside from the snowflakes who live at home with mommy and daddy and dont earn a dime the majority of white folk work pay taxes and the dems squander it on illegals, dependents and an agenda that is unAmerican
Lynch didn’t arrive to this conclusion after the 2010 and 2014 midterms?
To the Democrats, it’s still all about marketing, and not about doing what’s best for the country and its citizens.
Republicans need to focus on reality. Pursuing and enacting conservative policies will make things better for people, encouraging them to vote for the politicians who will continue such policies.
“Get back to its roots”? I guess that means a run on copies of the “THE COMMUNIST MANIFESTO”?
Does this mean the Dems are going to pander to white working people? Who,pays for it all? THe Rich of course.
I got news, we’re not going to just sit back and let them rebuild their monstrosity. We haven’t gone to all of this trouble to destroy them for nothing.
They probably thought that the presidency would stay Democrat.
Up until now, we’ve heard that so many states, totalling about 240 electoral votes, have voted Democrat in pres. elections going back to Bill Clinton’s elections.
So they have felt that Hillary, or any Democrat, just needed a few, not all, of the battleground states to keep the White House.
And I think they felt that as long as they had a Democrat president, that other elections didn’t matter so much.
“U.S. Rep. Stephen F. Lynch says its time for the Democratic Party to get back to its roots and refocus on speaking about the issues facing white, blue-collar workers”
Does he mean issues like unlimited illegal immigration that steals our jobs and depresses our wages? Or issues like the globalist elites exporting our jobs to Mexico via NAFTA, attempting to export our jobs to Asia via TPP, and all of those Indians and Pakistanis and Filipinos who work in foreign call centers that we’re forced to speak with instead of American workers IN America? Issues like that?
“It’s time for the Democrat Party to get backs to its roots...”
I wouldn’t recommend that...

They are hemorrhaging voters of every kind. They need to stop being the “Death to America” party.
That’s mighty white of them.
There's your problem...
Every time a Democrat loses an election, we have two weeks of Democrats gazing at their navels. Kerry said about two days later that he regretted ignoring religious issues. They then go right back to transgender bathrooms and dancing on the head of a pin. They are incapable of reforming.
If they were to stop taking donations from the Human Rights Commission and the Saudis and Hollywood, they might reform. Ha!
They need more American voters. That means they need to appeal to people who care about their country and not their tribal group. For all of their ridiculous babbling about Pepe and the hidden meanings in jpegs, what they're complaining about on the alt-right is something they've been doing for years.
Now they own that identity, literally and politically, and it isn't going to go away by carving out yet another tribe for their coalition.
Stephen F. Lynch could be a good Democratic presidential candidate in 2020, but the Dems will go to the far left Al Sharpton route and they’ll probably lose again in 2020 the way that they are going.
Amen. And step one would be to drop their hatred for God. Accepting God's love would automatically lead to love for their fellow man (not in a homosexual way), life, family, country and liberty.
