President Obama has described Donald Trump as ignorant, dangerous and unfit to lead the nation, but hell ask the Republican president-elect Thursday not to wipe out his cherished, legacy-making executive actions on everything from the Iranian nuclear deal to Obamacare.
In a meeting at the White House to prepare Mr. Trump for taking office, Mr. Obama will try to persuade the president-elect to honor what his aides call a tradition of preserving executive actions implemented by the departing chief executive.
There is a tradition, particularly with regard to executive agreements of successive presidents preserving some element of continuity, said White House press secretary Josh Earnest. I dont know whether or not that will apply in this case. But as a part of this effective, smooth transition, President Obama

Reagan used a weed whacker on Carters EOs.
Trump can use a chain saw.
Actually, he will have all of Zero’s EO’s on a portable laptop. The moment he becomes president, he will sign the kill order for all of Zero’s EO’s.
One measure from the Clinton presidency which made good sense, was the “Welfare for Work” concept.
Gingrich negotiated it, and Clinton took credit, when he said “end welfare as we know it.”
Obama cancelled that, repealed it, whatever you call it. I don’t know if it was legislation, or executive order.
But Trump should use his GOP majorities to get this back on track, and start reducing the number of takers, on the “dole.”
This world is full of lying idiots and 0bama is one of their leaders.
No.
Exactly!
Pretty rich coming from Mr “I Won”!!
Probably because Obama didn't want it out there forever how small he is compared to Trump.
I remember BJClinton, just after his inauguration in 1992, immediately reversed some of President GHW Bush's executive orders. This was a highly publicized photo-op.
IIRC the most prominent reversal had something to do with abortion. Perhaps it was the ban on abortions in military hospitals overseas. Whatever it was, the media cheered it, of course.
If it is a tradition, it is a TERRIBLE one.
POTUS is not supposed to legislate.
**Trump has no need to negotiate anything. No agreements. Just an assurance that he will give them full consideration and keep any elements that dont violate his campaign promises.**
Reminds me of when my Soldiers used to ask me to do something stupid. My reply was “Let me think about it (1/2 second pause) NO!”
Obama should go to https://www.gofundme.com and first raise all the money needed to make each of the EO’s he wants kept in place working as expected. Or he should go to Congress and ask them to pass legislation, for at least the ones that are Constitutional, to make his EO’s lawful. Trump should just simply pledge to keep his Oath of Office and praise the fact that Obama has experience as a Constitutional Scholar in knowing that he will ensure a smooth transition in enforcing the laws.
For any EO’s that aren’t clearly and unambiguously lawful then the originators of such EO’s should feel fortunate if they are not investigated and possibly prosecuted for their violations of law.
The Obamas didnt do a photo-op featuring the current and future first couples outside the south entrance of the White House, as is customary. In his first visit to the White House after the 2008 election, Mr. Obama and first lady Michelle Obama posed for the cameras alongside President George W. Bush and first lady Laura Bush
