Trump Lead Widens To 2, T43 to C41, His Biggest Yet in IBD/TIPP Poll
IBD ^ | November 7, 2016 | IBD

Posted on 11/07/2016 2:49:20 AM PST by FlyingFish

With one day to go, Donald Trump extended his lead over Hillary Clinton, 43% to 41%, according to the latest IBD/TIPP presidential tracking poll. That comes after a third bombshell from FBI Director James Comey, who announced Sunday he would not indict Clinton for her email scandal.

Trump's two-point lead now matches his largest so far during the 20 days of polling.

Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson gets 6% of the vote, Green Party candidate Jill Stein just 2%.

In a two-way matchup that excludes the two third-party candidates, however, Clinton still holds a 43% to 42% lead over Trump, with 9% of those responding saying they were "unsure" for whom they would vote.

The unrounded poll numbers give Trump a 2.4 percentage point advantage over Clinton in the four-way race, 43.1% to 40.7%. Trump and Clinton had essentially been deadlocked for four days through Friday, but Trump moved into the lead Saturday and widened it on Sunday on a steady drumbeat of news surrounding Hillary Clinton's emails.

Also in the unrounded tally, Johnson now has 6.3% to Stein's 2.2%.

The poll of 1,026 likely voters reflects a weighted response of 319 Democrats, 322 Republicans and 314 Independent and "other" voters. It has a margin of error of +/-3.1 percentage points. The results are now based on the latest four days of polling.

Yep, if the trend holds, Trump will win big. Both IBD and Daybreak are showing that the momentum is clearly on his side.

Anyone have a good update on Florida? Can Trump win without it?

Anytime there is a headline with the words Hillary and FBI, it’s bad for her no matter the context. The Comey letter didn’t help her.

I’m still hopeful but not totally assured. We might need some Trump voters who don’t admit it...perhaps hispanic, black and other minority men who don’t want to be bossed around by a *itchy woman for four years.

"Also in the unrounded tally, Johnson now has 6.3% to Stein's 2.2%."

In 2012, Gary Johnson won 0.99% and Jill Stein 0.36%.

In 1980, Libertarian Party candidates Ed Clark and David Koch received 1.07%. Unlike Johnson and Weld, Clark and Koch were actually libertarians.

I can't see how Johnson and Stein are going to win anywhere near a combined 8.5% of the national vote. My guess is that "Johnson" is often used as a socially acceptable or polite way of saying "Trump" when speaking with a young coed pollster.

My own inexpert SWAG (scientific wild *** guess) is that Johnson "might" double Clark's performance (rounding up to 2.2%), and that of the remainder, 2/3 will vote for Trump and remaining 1/3 will not vote for president or will stay home. Since there is absolutely nothing that is libertarian about Hillary Clinton, I can't see her picking up many votes from this group. Another guess is that Stein triples her performance from 2012 to 1%. Of the remainder, 1/2 might vote for Clinton, 1/4 might have heard her comment about Clinton starting WW III and vote for Trump and 1/4 stay home.

This poll (along with the LA Times poll) is encouraging, and I'm starting to believe that Trump might actually be able to pull it off.

Now IBD can say they called it right. Even if Trump wins +6.

Good news! IBD is moving in the direction of USC Dornsife/LA Times - Trump leading by 5 at 48.0 to 43.2.

People in the media yesterday and today are annoyingly confidant that Screaming Crooked Hillary will win.

I think half of the Johnson vote will switched to one or the other nominees.

I don’t think Trump can win without FL unless he sweeps the Rust Belt. Janet Reno just died, I understand.

Janet Reno just died. Good time for the news to remind the country about Waco when women and children were killed by the FBI, Bill Clinton, and the Attorney General.

That headline was hyperbolic, a weekend increase of 13,000...not a huge deal considering the number of voters in Miami\Dade. Not whistling past the graveyard here, but let's not mine for stories to buttress are negativity, shall we?

Why in the h--- are they still even polling two way numbers? Johnson and Stein are certainly not going to drop out of the race this afternoon and even if they did they already have a couple percent in early voting totals baked in.
