Rand Paul: Polls showing Clinton ahead are 'designed to suppress turnout'
CNN ^ | Wed October 26, 2016 | Chris Massie

Republican Sen. Rand Paul said on Wednesday that polls showing Hillary Clinton with a lead over Donald Trump are "designed to suppress turnout."

"You know, I think sometimes polling is done to dampen election turnout so when Trump says the thing's rigged, I'm not sure exactly what he means and I'm not sure I always agree with him," Paul said. "But I do think that when we say over and over someone can't win that is a form of rigging in the sense it is designed to suppress turnout."

Trump has repeatedly said that the election is "rigged" in Clinton's favor, saying that he means this both in the sense of electoral fraud and media bias. While there is no evidence of pollsters intentionally skewing results to benefit one party or candidat, Paul, a rival during the Republican primary who has since endorsed him, contended that Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin's unexpected victory in the gubernatorial race last year was an example of this phenomenon.

"In Kentucky, governor's race in 2015, the media said over and over and over again Democrats were up 8 points," Paul said. "The hope I think was to depress Republican turnout and these were coming from liberal newspapers in our state. And turns out the Republicans won by 8. They were off like by 16 — 14, 16 points.

And I think some of that is intentional. The polls are put out, you know to make it either look closer than it is or to make it look like Democrats have a better chance. And I think it's done by design to try to dampen turnout."

Paul added that he thought that Trump would win Kentucky and West Virginia. Though are considered solidly red, voters should not be discouraged by his deficit in the polls.

Called “psychological operations” which are designed to suppress the Republican vote. Actually I am feeling pretty upbeat that Trump is going to win this thing.

Wow! Rand Paul speaking against Hillary.
That could help sway some more of the ‘heads full of mush’ against her.

I think Paulites, or the InfoWars brigade, are already in. They want Hillary defeated. They are still nutty, though.

Rand Paul is the classic example of not ready for prime time. He could've owned his issue of the Federal Reserve Bank, which rigs our monetary system. He scarcely mentioned it. He got outraged by Trump, who strives to change the system, while being in the same corner as establishment pols.

If he'd had some scruples and vision, he could've been a contender as VP. I'll never understand why he fell in line with the backstabbers.

Rand Paul’s Liberty rating stands at 92% and the Heritage Foundation has him at 84%. I don’t consider him a wacko or anything like that. I wish all the Senate and Congress critters were as good as him.

Hillary is sooooooo far ahead that it is safe for all of you true leftists and Bernie supporters to vote for Jill Stein. Do it, you know you want to and voting for the Green Party has never, ever had a negative effect on the Democratic candidate. It’s perfectly safe.

For sure liberals with a conscience can vote Jill, your party is so far ahead. In fact if it’s raining or the lines are long feel free to stay at home because you know, your single vote won’t matter.

On the other hand, this is having no affect on me and other Trump supporters, we know your game and we’re not buying it. In fact it just makes us even more energized!

Paul cites one of many examples.

When did he back stab Trump? I thought he’s been pretty supportive all along.

Rand Paul’s long term strategy of being a libertarian acceptable to the establishment - working within the system - came into fruition at exactly the wrong time.

Rand Paul was very critical of Trump during the primaries.

It’s difficult to see through the fog.

I am hopeful that Trump can win it, but will not be surprised that the vagina and gibsmedats votes throw her over the top.

If that’s the case...the country is lost.

Trump will win Pennsylvania, Ohio, North Carolina and likely Virginia and certainly Texas, Georgia and Utah.

Remember, you heard it here first.

I don’t think he was ever among the never-Trump crowd and he kept his promise to endorse the winner. He didn’t desert over that stupid tape either, like Paul Ryan. Now there’s a real back-stabber.
