The owner of America's oldest brewery has come out in support of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, and the company's faithful drinkers aren't too happy about it.
Eric Trump, the nominee's son, stopped at D. G. Yuengling & Son's in Pottsville on Monday while campaigning on behalf of his father.
His message to the company? Hard-working family businesses like Yuengling, a fixture in Schuylkill County since the 1800s, would thrive under a President Trump, the Reading Eagle reported Tuesday.
Yuengling's response?
"Our guys are behind your father," 73-year-old owner Richard "Dick" Yuengling Jr. said, according to the newspaper. "We need him in there."
Some fans of the beer were quick to retaliate Wednesday, declaring they plan to stop drinking Yuengling altogether. That includes Communications Director for Philadelphia's City Council, Jane Roh.

Yuengling is on my shopping list now. I have a local distributor who is a Trump supporter, and I know what I’m buying from him tomorrow.
Yay! Good to hear. I wish we could get it west of Ohio. When I’m in their zone, it’s my preferred beer. Love their lager on tap.
Beer drinkers across America bury this beer put them out of business!
It is my favorite but cannot find it in Arizona.
Ha! When I was in college in the '70s I would have a case of returnable pints delivered for $4.80. A couple years ago I was rerouted on a flight and had a 3 hour layover in Newark. There was a bar next to my gate that had Yeungling on tap. $12.00 a pint!
Most Sam Adams is brewed under contract in Ohio
Spider-Man got the Angry Video Game Nerd to swap from Rolling Rock to Yuengling (though it didn’t last for long).
In the grocery stores in VA it isn’t any more expensive than Bud or Coors
It’s taken 187 years to reach LA. I don’t know if I can wait for it to get here.
What, Yuengling?
Oldest beer in America. 1823, continuous operation, same family owns it for 6 generations.
It’s great stuff.
*** “Don’t drink beer too much anymore since it gives me gout”***
Personally I self medicate with beer... the pain killers and muscle relaxants the Dr prescribes work... but I am worthless
Beer accomplishes the same thing (except for the weight gain and the unspoken threats from my State Trooper neighbor, I’m good) and I can Work, Provide for myself.
The other way I was to be on 100% disability, I’m fine with my choice. I don’t take a dime from Govt.
Saw a picture last week it said “Make Welfare as Hard to Get as Veterans Benefits” I cheered.
They’re up in Pottstown, PA.
Sam Adams also pulled support from St. Patrick’s Day parade because of homosexuals being excluded from parade.
Sam Adams= queer beer
I don’t drink much beer, but Yuengling has always been my favorite.
That reminds me I have to figure out how to change my screen name since I switched over to Yuengling.
I love Yuengling. Good flavor at a good price. Also it is the OLDEST brewery in America. I bet their sales pick up from Trump supporters’ business.
That sounds like a plan, Mr. Fuji! Here’s to that night giving us a chance to celebrate!
“I pretty much gave up beer after 40, but Ill buy some tonight.”
40 should be enough beer!
(Sorry)
...I prefer the tag, beer geek...
...I've been hooked on craft beers for about 6 or 7 years now...
...if a restaurant doesn't have craft beer, they most always have a Yuengling...
...their lager has more flavor than any other cooperate beer on the market...
...we keep a case at the barn for one of our older horses...
...and yes, I "borrow" one from him occasionally...
...one more reason to drink it now...:)
