The owner of America's oldest brewery has come out in support of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, and the company's faithful drinkers aren't too happy about it.
Eric Trump, the nominee's son, stopped at D. G. Yuengling & Son's in Pottsville on Monday while campaigning on behalf of his father.
His message to the company? Hard-working family businesses like Yuengling, a fixture in Schuylkill County since the 1800s, would thrive under a President Trump, the Reading Eagle reported Tuesday.
Yuengling's response?
"Our guys are behind your father," 73-year-old owner Richard "Dick" Yuengling Jr. said, according to the newspaper. "We need him in there."
Some fans of the beer were quick to retaliate Wednesday, declaring they plan to stop drinking Yuengling altogether. That includes Communications Director for Philadelphia's City Council, Jane Roh.

I alternate between Y Black & Tan and Y Light Lager. Gotta pick up some for election night.
I will look, don’t know if they have it here in Dallas.
I know a few little private corner stores that carry a LOT of different kinds.
Maybe they could order some?
.
Yeah after two beers who cares what it tastes like! I have not seen that beer in OK, but I will pick some up if I see it.
Yup!Bar scenes were filmed in Tony Mart and,the rooftop sessions were on top of the bars deck .The bridge in the background is the Somers Poibt-Ocean City causeway.
Wonderful beer, it reminded me of what Coors used to be like once upon a time, before some judge made Coors stop shipping it cold. Not Coors lite, real Coors beer.
I daresay I got a little misty eyed over it. Looking forward to going to Philly again someday, to have a cheesesteak at Jim's and a couple of Yuenglings. Preferably about this time of year, when the weather is cool.
Sam Adams is overrated IMO. The beer, that is. Too much hops for me.
Not in TX yet, closest state is LA.
I didn’t recognize the name; don’t know if they ship to California, but if they do I’ll be picking up a couple of cases.
A brewery owned by a man who obviously pays excellent attention to detail, gotta be good beer.
Well, I’ll admit to drinking only three or four every night.
7/365
If I drink a fourth it would usually be Shiner Premium, or sometimes another Yuengling.
Oh yeah I forgot...just started drinking Not Your Father’s Root Beer (Yes, that’s the name).
And occassionally Yuengling Black And Tan.
Beer snob, always pour mine in a logoed beer glass kept in the freezer...:>)
SA is the only American beer that passes the German beer purity law...
The Reinheitsgebot, literally “purity order”, sometimes called the “German Beer Purity Law” in English, is the collective name for a series of regulations limiting the ingredients in beer in Germany and its predecessor states. The best-known version of the law was adopted in Bavaria in 1516, but similar regulations predate the Bavarian order, and modern regulations also significantly differ from the 1516 Bavarian version.
I don’t drink either, never could develop a taste for beer or alcohol in general but if I knew a drinker, I’d buy some in support.
Yuengling and Corona are the only cheaper beers I actually enjoy drinking. I haven’t bought any Yuengling in a while, so I’m due for some.
I think I’ll get some, get it nice and cold to enjoy on Victory Night (11/8)!
I’d pick up some, but I don’t think they sell it in Texas. Never heard of it myself.
Jane, you ignorant lush.
Although it was in front of a gun store, if you look over the gun shop sign you'll see the Yuengling ice cream world HQ.
Pretty cool, it's a real Sherman tank.
“Purity”. That’s like what Hitler said, right?
So I’m guessing only Aryan blends are approved?
:0). I’m just playing.
We buy Yuengling all the time. Glad I’m supporting Patriots!
How tolerant of the good little Nazis...
We on the west coast are out of luck. They will not distribute Yuengling out here.
