A Russian carrier fleet which passed through the English Channel today deployed heavily-armed guards to deter anyone approaching the warships.
A number of guards, equipped with AK-74 assault rifles and heavy machine guns were spotted on the flight deck of the Admiral Kuznetsov as it passed by the White Cliffs of Dover.
The powerful fleet was ordered to pass through the Channel, which is one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world, in single file.

I’ve seen it said on a couple of different military boards, that the longest the Russians could support a large fleet at sea is likely around 60-90 days.
That also just happens to be the same amount of time before Obama leaves office.
By putting the fleet out as a “Red Line off of Syria, he’s trying to short circuit any planned attack on Assad by Obama, after the election.
Why don't you re-enlist with your whole family, join the spescial forces and rebels in Aleppo, and defeat the Russians.

From what I understand, the Rooskie navy is not very modern and requires a lot of continual maintenance just to keep their vessels operating...they would have a lot of trouble in combat.
The Russian fleet has just that one carrier, which from the looks of it needs a paint job and would be a sitting duck for any NATO country that wanted to sink it. Not sure why the redeployment is being hyped. If anything it is a sign that Russia doesn’t expect conflict with the US Navy in the Med.
Good question...not unless the ship is blowing stacks...an operation where forced air is channeled through the stacks to clean the accumulation of solids from exhaust gasses.
