A Russian carrier fleet which passed through the English Channel today deployed heavily-armed guards to deter anyone approaching the warships.
A number of guards, equipped with AK-74 assault rifles and heavy machine guns were spotted on the flight deck of the Admiral Kuznetsov as it passed by the White Cliffs of Dover.
The powerful fleet was ordered to pass through the Channel, which is one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world, in single file.

This heap looks like it’s on fire. Any navy guys know what’s causing all the dark smoke?
Not Navy but I’d guess it’s N6FO.
By parading this “seapower” I have a notion Russia sending a redline message. They have stated as policy they will go to tactical nukes very quickly due to the imbalance and condition of their conventional forces. I think we could be close to a limited tactical nuclear war.
In the games of countries, strategies can be discerned. Russia - chess; US - poker, football; Iran - backgammon; Japan - go. China - ??
Russia may be clearing out their Arctic ports before winter. Repositioning in Crimea or Syria?
My Chechen terrorist relatives in Syria? You're obviously sick in the head. In any case, you p*ssyed-out, as expected, on my question of what you thought of Trump and especially his VP pick Mike Pence's sharp criticisms of your boy KGB/FSB Putin. Pence repeated referred to him as the "small and bullying president of Russia".
From 2014
Many Ukrainians believe you need look no further than the face of Viktor Yushchenko to understand Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
Once smooth and ruggedly handsome, it still bears the scars from an assassination attempt when someone slipped dioxin into Yushchenko's food. ..."

Ignore the red and orange lines. They were already on the map when I downloaded it.
It’s why he wants Clinton to win it’s better for them.
So, you support the Obama/Hillary anti-Syrian policy. Your Chechen friends do too. Vote Hillary and help them out.
Now you piqued my curiosity. What percentage of the population of England are Muslims, do you think? I'm interested.
And yet, all that fuss over a strategic withdrawal. After that, they were never again a serious threat to shipping.
I'm sorry but unless Trump is elected I categorically oppose any large scale intervention in the Mid East both on general principal and as a result of my total non-faith in the competence and good faith of those at the top levels of government, the pentagon, and the intelligence community.
What is behind this is the absolute moral and practical collapse of US foreign policy in the Middle East over the last several decades. The Bushes, the Clintons, and Obama (and their various minions) have led this country to absolute and apocalyptic disaster.
Everything we have done since intervening in the first Gulf War has proven a tragic mistake. I have learned my lesson- I deeply repent of supporting the Bushes misguided policies. The leaders of this country, "conservative" or "liberal" seem unable to grasp the need for a profound change in direction.
We have not made the world "safe for democracy" we have made it unsafe and transformed the middle east into a playground for Bin Laden, ISIS, Iran, and Putin. The restoration of order, almost any order, in these regions must be our primary objective- not stoking further anarchy in hopes of exploiting it for our ends no matter how just we think those ends to be.
The best outcome that can be hoped for in Syria is to restore Russia and Iran's client king Assad and hope to win the peace after loosing the war. This is a very bad outcome. I can see no better.
A general war in the Middle East with us backing the Sunni Arabs and Russia and China backing Iran will end in disaster for the entire world. America will not survive such a war in a recognizable form.
So, you support the Obama/Hillary anti-Syrian policy.
Of course Syria is a tyrannical/lunatic regime. They attacked their own population with chemical weapons, for starters. Anyway, I listed them with other such regimes that your hero in Moscow arms and supports, such as Iran, North Korea, numerous hostile Marxist regimes in Latin America, the ChiComs.
An increasingly aggressive, expansionist Russia, their troubling/anti-American friends and allies, ISIS, other islamo-nazi terrorist groups AND the George Soros-supported Obama admin are serious threats that we (Americans who love their country) face today. Obama, through his *deliberate in-actions* afforded Putin the opportunity to move his forces into the oil/gas-rich Middle East, where their clear long-term aim is to ultimately take control of it, along with the great wealth and strategic positioning that comes along with that takeover.
...THAT in addition to the aggressive moves they’re (the Russians) are making elsewhere, such as in Eastern Europe.
5.02 % in England - 2.6 million of which 12.4% live in London.
The facts of how the O admin has helped strengthened Russia (including on missile defense and nukes, including the Iran deal, which Putin loves and claims to have played a major role in), while at the same time hurting us (his (Obama's) slashing of our military and various defenses), prove this to be the case. Putin couldn't have hoped to have had a better putz in the WH than Obama, or anyone from his team of traitors after he leaves.
Fuel injection atomizers running too cold—preheat set too low? Boiler exhaust-stack catch fire often? Naval Mazut won’t pump without low pressure steam for heat. Engineering crew may be newbies.
The planes may be props—supposedly they were short of carrier qualified pilots to fill a proper complement.
Should take it on a port tour in the Caribbean—kill all the mosquitoes.
