During Wednesday nights presidential debate, Chris Wallace held Hillary Clintons feet to the fire over allegations that the Clinton Foundation engaged in pay-for-play behavior when she served as secretary of state.
There have been a lot of developments over the last ten days since the last debate, Wallace posed. Id like to ask you about them. These are questions that the American people have, Secretary Clinton, during your 2009 Senate confirmation hearing, you promised to avoid even the appearance of a conflict of interest with your dealing with the Clinton Foundation while you were Secretary of State.
Emails show that donors got special access to you, he continued. Can you really say you kept your pledge to that Senate committee, and what happened and what went on between you and the Clinton Foundation? Why isnt it what Mr. Trump calls pay to play?
Well, everything I did as secretary of state was in furtherance of our countrys interests and our values, Clinton responded. The State Department said that.
Clinton then listed what she described as all the good the Foundation does across the world before Wallace interrupted her.
Secretary, respectfully, this is an open discussion, Wallace noted. A specific question went to pay for play. Do you want to address that?
She did not.
Wallace impressed me as being the fairest moderator of this series. Is his job now on the line?
We think your thoughts are right on the mark. We were there with Reagan too.
Yeah. She goes to another country to "help" on a problem. Of course, she needs to take an entourage on expensive jets and booze and rich food is expensive, not to mention the need for $5000 jackets and shoes etc. You can't expect her to wear the same thing twice. Then there is the need for new furniture, landscaping, massage therapists so she can unwind. And so on.
Various causes! Hey, the poor are getting 5 percent from her foundation that people donate to for help for the poor, that has to count for something.
I have heard the same.
Corporations pay no tax, they have never paid tax and it is impossible for them to pay tax. If Boeing sells an airliner for 100 million dollars and it"s taxes are 35% on the sale the cost is now 135 million dollars. When you take a ride on that airliner with American Airlines you pay the tax on that airliner in you ticket price! When Aerospace sells an A330 to American Airlines, they buy it because it is cheaper because it does not have the obscene tax on it that Boeing has on their aircraft. That means we do not get the sale. That means American jobs are lost. That means Frenchmen in Toulouse France have the jobs and not Americans in Seattle. France has obscene taxes on the workers. France also understands that to put the same obscene taxes on Aerospatial will put Frenchmen out of a job.
That’s probably the first time anyone in the press has asked that question of her.
The corporate income tax is levied on profits, not on sales.
Let's say the pre-tax profit on that $100 million airliner was 10% -- $10 million. The associated corporate income tax would then be $3.5 million (not $35 million).
The French and Brits have damn good engineers. We have damn good engineers. Boeing hires the best engineers, some are Brits. some are French, some or Indian etc. Their engineers like keeping as much of their pay as they can. That is why they are in Seattle working for Boeing!
I would have gone back to her Watergate days too. Good call.
She’s been a shrew all the way back hasn’t she.
Yes, we’ll find out. I think folks are smart enough to dump her.
See, I don’t follow things quite that close. Good job.
I knew she was lying, but I wasn’t exactly sure to what extent it went to.
I wish he had some of those answers tonight. He could have nailed her to the wall.
If at no other time, it will count on judgement day.
Some of the responses to me are talking 5% or so. Yikes!
Only 6 % of Clinton Foundation goes to charity, NOT 90 %. And liberal news media bootlickers will never call her out on it.
anyone confirm that the votes are counted in Spain ?
It was a big deal for a FOX anchor to be a moderator in a Presidential debate.....media bias and all that.
When I used the figure of 100 million it should have been addressed as profit not sale price.
However our insane taxes on corporations put our companies at a great disadvantage in international marketing.
PS
Several millionaires have given me jobs. A poor man never gave me a job.
Excellent. No other debate moderator would have done that.
At least, not one from any of the other “mainstream” networks.
About 15 years ago, Howie Carr was interviewing "guest" Chris Wallace. Howie said something that irked him, and Chris hung up! Chris also uses "Sir", when he is PO'd. (According to Howie this week).
If nothing else justifies the expense of a Smartphone, it's being able to listen to Howie (in Florida) every day! :)
Trump made it clear, a vote for Hillary is a vote for a criminal. I don’t believe, in the entire history of the USA, that such a claim has ever been made. And he is right. She made the second fatal blunder, twice promising to eat the rich.
She is the one who has to win by a margin that is clearly not fraud as it stands now.
I had hoped for him to tear her throat out but he stood his ground and got the really damaging material on her into the record. Good enough. Consider this. That really was her last shot at him and she really did not lay a glove on him. She tried throwing a few lies his direction but they all fell short. She has daily rounds of Wikileaks to endure and O’Keefe is just getting started.
