Donald Trumps Washington is shaping up to look a lot like a boardroom scene from The Apprentice.
The GOP nominee on Tuesday told supporters here that he plans to tell the entrenched guard of Congress youre fired, continuing his ethics reform push by advocating for term limits on members of Congress that would further drain the swamp in Washington, D.C. [ ]
Trump at a rally later said his proposal would limit House members to 6 years (3 terms) and Senate members to 12 years (2 terms).

Please. Please. Please.
I wonder what the veins on Paul Ryans forehead looked like when he heard this
I would love to see term limits imposed on both Congress and federal judges (district, appellate, and SCOTUS), but how is Trump going to accomplish this?
Judges, too! Especially the Supremes.
They were given lifetime tenure precisely so they would not be influenced by political considerations. The idea was that their loyalty would only be to the law, because they did not have to worry about their jobs.
That’s all been turned around. There’s always been some politics, but since Bork, Supreme Court appointments have been all political. That should change. If politics is unavoidable, make their terms long, but not for life, and especially, asynchronous with the Presidential election cycle. Maybe 13 years would be a lucky number.
Rather than term limits I’d rather see the 17th Amendment repealed.
The House was meant to be the people’s representative, the Senate was meant to be the states.’
Keep praying for Donald’s safety everybody.
Have no idea, but I like the way he thinks compared to “career” politicians.
My congressman retired with millions in his campaign chest which automatically went to his retirement fund. The long they are in congress the more money they accumulate for their retirement fund. It’s the government racket.
He can’t do this and frankly, there are far better uses of his time and microphone with three weeks left.
If the public wants term limits they need to demand it from their representatives.... as much as I would like term limits in principle we do not live in a dictatorship.
Why is he creating more noise over this crap? Hillary cannot win on the issues so she and her media sycophants (aided heavily by the GOPe) are simply going to keep him in the mud for the final three weeks.
If it was good enough for George Washington to retire after two terms even though he was begged to stay on as President, it s/b good enough for the current crop of politicians.
Term limits are 50 years too late.
I disagree with you on this. Even though he doesn’t have any authority to do this, I’m sure this kind of campaign statement will carry a lot of weight with an electorate that is sick of business as usual in Washington.
Seesh, he gives two hours of speeches nearly every day, and you want to deny him 10 minutes of what obviously something he thinks is important?
Cut out the Dead Wood
Judges as well?
Politicians and gubmint officials need to be removed after 2 terms. And they ought to be paid the mean salary of their constituents. And they should be prohibited from lobbying the gubmint for life.
Basically, this enforces the public gubmint officials represent their constituents without any financial gain now or ever.
See post #4.
I’m with you. If the state legislature selects the person to be senator and it has to be approved by the governor, people would be a lot more careful about who they voted for on the state level.
