The leaked video of Donald Trump’s lecherous musings had only been on the internet for a few hours Friday when the Mormon backlash began. “I’m out,” Utah congressman Jason Chaffetz told a local news anchor in Salt Lake City. “I can no longer in good conscience endorse this person for president. It is some of the most abhorrent and offensive comments that you can possibly imagine.” The interview made Chaffetz the first Republican in Congress to officially retract his endorsement of Trump, and by next day he would be joined by dozens of his colleagues across the country. But in Utah, conservative Mormons were already mounting a wide-scale revolt against their party’s nominee — a repudiation so swift and severe that some GOP insiders believe the deep-red state could be thrown into contention in the final weeks of the race.

Well that's good that you do, but where have you been the past 8 years? Both McLame and Mittens are not ideal candidates, but when you view the devastation of the last 8 years, you should be ashamed of yourselves. As far as “righteousness” is concerned, no I don't see myself as “more righteous” than anyone else, but I do see my self as an independent person capable of charting my own course through life and not allowing others who may be less “worthy” than I am, “tell me” how to behave. My parents saddled me with Mormonism, and it took a long time to rid myself of it's nonsense. You are certainly free to make your way in life as you choose too, but not criticize me for availing myself of the same privilege.

Anyway, there are a lot of people on FR who would say I am ineligible because I was born in the U.S. but my mother was not an American citizen at the time (she became naturalized when I was about 10).
Last poll I saw he was up about 4 points, but that was a couple weeks ago, I think.

the Mormons abandoning Trump is all about Romney and the president of the Mormon church. it all about the insiders not the church itself. the church is a top down organization and because of this it controls a lot of the political decisions by its members wait a couple years and there will a different person heading the church and they will head in what ever direction that head of the church wants to go.

And yet they still hold to Joseph Smith, who had HOW MANY AFFAIRS, as the prophet and founder of their church!
Utah can take their 6 electoral votes and go to hell.
Revolt? Name one high-profile Mormon political figure who has ever backed Donald Trump with more than lukewarm words.

I think the story is ginned up in order to get Utah’s electoral votes off the table and given to an independent.

I doubt that Utah’s 6 electoral votes are going to matter a lot in the coming landslide.
