Two Palms Springs police officers were fatally shot and another wounded Saturday while responding to family disturbance call, and a SWAT team remains at the scene, police said.
The shooting occurred when the officers responded to the scene near the corner of Racquet Club Road and Sunrise Way about noon, authorities said.
“The officers were near the front door,” an emotional Police Chief Bryan Reyes told reporters during an afternoon news conference. “They were responding to a simple family disturbance and [the gunman] elected to open fire on the guardians of this city.”

It also says that the father who talked to the neighbor who called the police also told him his son wanted to kill cops. Based on that, I’d firmly put this in the war on police.
He also says he son is crazy. But seriously it is not worth quibbling about. War on cops it is.
I think you’re spot on with this. The shooter will almost certainly turn out to be a bona-fide psychotic and possible drug addict, but even crazy people read the news. With the past two years especially of BLM lies being repeated as true in print, telvision and by self-serving elected officials, it’s inevitable that some nutcases will focus on the police.

I used to think that was a crazy conspiracy theory. Now, not so much. There’s really no explanation for what the Left is doing. After all these years, even a true-believer must realize that their approach doesn’t work.
Trump has done a good job mentioning that the Democrats have been in charge of the worst places for the longest time. He needs to keep pounding on that.

These heartbreaking situations cry out for a technical improvement, and it’s not far off.
Humanoid robot avatars, armed or not, sent into harm’s way first. Under control of police officers at all times, not autonomous, no need to freak.
AI is coming too, and it’s a real issue, but a separate issue from robotics. So many people seem inclined to conflate the two.
Well .. there’s a lot of history in Palm Springs/Palm Desert area .. related to the attack in San Bernardino. And, it should be noted that there is an encampment of Muslims over in the desert.
The other possible connection comes from Palm Desert where a man disappeared and his body was later found in a pond at one of the golf courses. This death is possibly also linked to several other deaths (same M.O.) around the Great Lakes area. All young men, all attending an event, all disappeared, all were found in a body of water. Recently, in MN, there were 3 arrested (Muslims); have never heard a word about them since. Can’t seem to find any info on them.
However, my connection is not only the method of death and the other stats which are the same, but after investigating the San Bernardino shooting, one of the people living with the couple, had been radicalized .. right around the time the Palm Desert death occurred.
I remember that after all the Great Lakes deaths, there was this surge of people wanting to travel to Syria to join ISIS. I have always wondered if their passage to Syria was the killing of a white person. However, there’s no more info on any of it. Really bugs me.
What really made me curious about all those deaths was the similarity to gang activity. When a person wants to join a gang, they are usually required to perform some action related to the gang’s normal activity (such as stealing cars, petty theft, stealing car parts, stealing guns or ammo, and then killing people). The jihadist goes straight to the top and requires killing of people.
We just lost a LA County Sheriff’s deputy this week. Shot in the face by one of Obama’s sons after doing some robberies.

Domestic trouble calls are the most dangerous calls a police office answers. So don’t do them. The police interject themselves between a man and his wife when they are already upset... What could go wrong? Let the couple work it out themselves or with relatives and friends or man of the cloth, a police presence makes it worse. The couple chose each other, they can live with it. Why does the government have to get involved in everything anyway.
The shooter was taken into custody late last night, after a 12-hour standoff at the house. His name is John Felix. No other description or picture at this time.
He’s a documented gang member who has prior felony convictions, and he was arrested in 2013 for fighting with police on the same doorstep where the officers were shot yesterday.

Especially in some jurisdictions that require the police to arrest someone from the call.
