Hurricane Matthew is big, bad and just downright scary, with iminent and sustained impacts to U.S. mainland. Florida Governor Rick Scott issued a state of emergency for all of Florida and disaster operations are activated. More than 1.5 million Floridians reside in current evacuation zones. Governor Scott has spoken with utilities across the state to ensure utilities are pre-positioned and there are no unmet needs. Multiple coastal hospitals have been evacuated. Meanwhile, feckless President Barack Hussein Obama is personally monitoring the progress of the storm.

I make the center of the outer eyewall band 9.81 NM off the coast at Ft. Pierce/St. Lucie.

Tropical Storms early on have bands of rain and dry winds. the Camera itself would be soaked and then rain free.
Why you want to discuss getting whacked by sand in a hurricane is beyond me.
Hobe Sound here storm is a bust no limbs.down yard is still clean wind gusts but not like they claimed it would be I call BS on the media. They claim talk shit is down but they never show it on tv. BS. Not buying the media hipe
It looks like it is moving past you. Keep an eye on it. Wednesday of next week you may get to buy pizza instead of water.
GodBless
You brought it back up. I merely replied. My apologies if that was somehow not the appropriate thing to do.
At 13 NM per hour, Sebastian and Vero beach will be under the outer eyewall at approx. 0430 EDT.
I just remember harsh winds and when it is sand as your surface, watch out.
Ha hope so thank you
I came across an ad on the Hilton Head tidal chart page link you provided, never seen anything like it, have water jet hover boards become a thing while I wasn’t paying attention? Didn’t see them last time I was out on OBX.

It looks slightly more controlled than grabbing a firehose at full blast, lol.
One of these times, we are going to witness some poor reporter having their head cut off due to flying debris. A piece of sheet metal is going to home in on one of them and it won’t be pretty. Having said that’ll, I like having them out there doing the job.
LOL! They didn’t have those things when I was young. I jumped out of messed up aircraft!
:^)

Ah the Single Life! It is everything that it is cracked up to be!
I received a call from my power company, Duke Progress Energy, tonight saying there may be power outages here from Matthew. I am in the Raleigh, NC (central-Eastern section of NC) area. The call gave me a phone number for calling if I experience a power outage. I was surprised because our highest winds are supposed to be about 30-40 MPH at the most and then we are supposed to get about 4 inches of rain in our area based on the Euro model. Down East has a flash flood advisory up but not my county.
I guess they are just being cautious.
Bush’s Best has a Mexican line that is to die for.
Thank you for all the photos. They really show the nature of this storm.
Thank you for your service as a backup power guy.
See my post 913 - got a call from Duke Progress Energy tonight about possible power outages in my area (central NC). I was surprised. I can understand such a prospect for down near the coast but not up here.
We have a few folks that specialize in power.
Raleigh, Fayetteville, Charlotte.
We can help with Duke to get things right.
A lot of pines in and around the Raleigh area. Soft wood, shallow roots. Just an abundance of caution, they remember what Fran did. Imagine countless bombs going off in pine forests, it was an impenetrable mass of downed pines for weeks.
