Hurricane Matthew is big, bad and just downright scary, with iminent and sustained impacts to U.S. mainland. Florida Governor Rick Scott issued a state of emergency for all of Florida and disaster operations are activated. More than 1.5 million Floridians reside in current evacuation zones. Governor Scott has spoken with utilities across the state to ensure utilities are pre-positioned and there are no unmet needs. Multiple coastal hospitals have been evacuated. Meanwhile, feckless President Barack Hussein Obama is personally monitoring the progress of the storm.

yes east. not nuts just wrong.
Love the jet ski rider in the street. Flooding is severe.
About that loop. It very well may not even be tropical storm strength by the time it comes back around. Also the charts I have seen show it only gracing the very lower tip of Florida. But those are long term projections and things can change. But this thing is projected to really start dying as it goes.
Also seeing lots of talk now that this may stay off shore enough to do a lot less damage than projected. It might not even make landfall at all.
Couple things...not getting uppity but...
We know the dropsondes allow for their forward momentum when released...have to...what’s a P3 cruise at...3-400mph?
Do they also allow for forward speed of the storm and report less...or is it WYSIWYG? Asking, not arguing.
Second...minor point...on a Synoptic low pressure system...face the wind and center circulation is over your right shoulder. So at 3 o’clock on a storm moving due north, wind out of the SE. The wind closer to 4 o’clock would be moving due north.
I think Nicole will swing under it and join.
Hurricanes (think Andrew) do weird things, make circles, go back and forth etc
Hope this puppy makes a right turn and heads North to expire
Aerial vid was blurry and lacking detail...or...everything not made of structural steel...was blurry and lacking detail. Galveston?
Hey hey, Fatima!
LTNS!
:-)
My personal unproven theory...land offers more resistance to circulation than ocean, so a graze w geometry like this tends to push the eye offshore. Actual track is the sum of steering currents including this (if I’m correct)...so this issue only has effect during wobbles.
Early reports often have fuel drips as infernoes.
Remember Eddie Compass?
NOW IS THE TIME TO URGENTLY HIDE FROM THE WIND. FAILURE TO ADEQUATELY SHELTER MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY, LOSS OF LIFE, OR IMMENSE HUMAN SUFFERING.
Dark in Haiti now. Very dark. Tomorrow is liable to flat suck. Brace for it.
That is one of the smartest things I have ever seen kids do!
She needs to get out of Dodge fast. This is coming from a native floridian. Hollywood florida
I know. I’m just celebrating/delirious that Matthew’s not eyewalling FL. To come home to a wet house is bad.. add a missing roof and that’s too much...
ALERT:
............. Online traffic from hurricane Matthew shut down the National Hurricane Center’s website tonight.
Great ‘cane of 1938 got sucked into a trough that was over New England. Caused acceleration to 70...!!!...MPH forward speed and radical intensification.
Nicole...well...for now...is just a wild card but there is potential...historical...influence there.
