Patricia McCarthy: Too soon to know
Anyone who read Tom Clancy's novel, Debt of Honor, published in 1994, has most likely wondered why it was not made into a film long ago. It is a gripping novel, written long before 9/11. The book tells the story of a Japanese man whose parents were killed at the end of WWII. He plots his deranged revenge by becoming a pilot and ultimately flying a jetliner into the Capitol building during the State of the Union address. In that book, his main character Jack Ryan, from his books Hunt for Red October, Clear and Present Danger, Patriot Games, etc., is the "designated survivor."
It is this book that is the likely kernel of the idea for the new television series, Designated Survivor, a Kiefer Sutherland venture very similar in vein to his long-running series, 24. In this program, he is a lowly cabinet member who is catapulted into the presidency when every other person in the government senior to him is killed in a catastrophic event right out of Tom Clancy's novel.
After only two episodes, there is something unnerving about the show; where is it going? It could be good; or it could be a work of anti-American, pro-Muslim propaganda. It is too soon to know.
It is an absolute myth that after 9/11 Muslim Americans were targeted for violence by "bigoted" Americans. In fact, there was no backlash against Muslim citizens; this was a trope of the Left, convenient as it fit into their worldview but an outright lie.

Of course it fit into their worldview because most all the rest of it is lies as well.
Can you tell us what exactly Jack Bauer did with the muslim Imam just three minutes before the end of the series?
I totally agree. I lasted 2 episodes too but am afraid this show will just aggravate me. Who needs that? I won’t be watching any more of it.
Can you find us a Youtube video of the scene because I can't remember it.............
Bkmrk. United airlines moves woman
Great movie!
I enjoyed that show as well, but one thing bugged me. Bauer was always on that darned cell phone, yet I NEVER saw it plugged in to recharge!
That would take a LOT of imagination!

LOL don’t ruin our fun.
See my reply in 90.
I read that earlier but I haven't been able to find a Youtube to verify it.....
I watched two episodes and that’s enough for me. The republican governor of Michigan was painted as someone who sicked the state police on ALL muslims.
The problem is that the propaganda is full of cliches.
this makes the show boring.
That was not the final season of 24. That was the finale of season 7 when Jack had been infected by a bio-weapon and was dying. He had met the Imam during the course of the season and had accused him of having info on the terrorist plot IIRC. It turned out he didn’t. Anyways, Jack asked him to come give him a final blessing of sorts. I didn’t think this was a big deal. Jack was saved anyways by a stem cell treatment via his daughter.
Thanks Sweetpatriot84!
I looked up the plot synopses on imdb, and you are correct. I mixed up my season finales.
As I posted on another thread, I was very disappointed with the cartoonish “Muslim oppression” storyline in the last episode. It’s wasn’t even realistically done, terrible writing, truly pathetic. I haven’t bailed yet cause I love the concept and I like Sutherland as actor but more garbage like that and I’ll have to. There’s another show I watch that’s on at the same time, Chicago PD.
How could a true conservative ever agree to serve as HUD secretary? To my thinking it would be as far out as having a libertarian run the IRS.
Yeah Tea Leoni looks just like Hillary would look. If Hillary wasn’t such a fat, sick, old, ugly cow, that is.
