Solar energy accounted for less than one percent of the total electricity generated in the U.S. during the first six months of 2016, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration’s (EIA) latest Monthly Energy Review.
Table 7.2a of the report shows that the U.S. generated a total of 1,951,350 million kilowatthours (kWh) of electricity from January through June of this year. But solar-generated electricity made up only a small fraction of the total.

I used solar and wind power for FREE this week - drying laundry on the line.
I wonder if THAT will ever catch on, or am I headed for the Re-Education Camp now that I’ve admitted to cutting out the Middle Man and denying politicians their cut of the action?

Well now, isn’t that “special.” Another flock of worthless bureaucrats doing yet another “task” that we can do without. Just how many “adminstrations” do we need? If President Trump closed all of them down, we’d probably see a needed spike in our unemployment number. Seemingly, our government creates these useless “agencies” but never adds up their cost, or their benefit. The “benefit” is most likely putting more useless RAT voters on the public payroll. Or maybe worthless academians who couldn’t even hack being teachers.
And wind turbines don’t work when it’s too windy, too calm, or too cold. (Emperor Obama can’t command the wind, as Jesus did.) The east and west coast snobs better hope the uncouth energy producing peasants in TX, OK, LA, WVA, PA etc. manage to stay in business after they vote Hillary into office. She has vowed she will shut down fossil fuels, and it gets mighty cold in the winter. Dopes.

Have never understood why the greenies haven’t insisted on going back to the installation of clothes lines. We didn’t have a clothes dryer for at least the first 25 years of my life. Loved the smell of fresh sheets on the bed and whites certainly were whiter without having to use so much of that “evil” bleach.
Because there’s more to solar than just drying something.
I’m sure the hippies aren’t against clotheslines, but it’s only one aspect of many things that use electricity.
Barbra Streisand was infamous for her condescending “advice” to use clotheslines, so it’s been out there. Trouble is, if everyone went back to clotheslines, the screams from home owner’s associations across the country would be deafening, it’s too unsightly for them. And, with nobody home during the day in most working age households, who has the time? Are you going to hang it out at night and take it down the next night?

Heck, California spent at least double that for solar energy over the past 8 years. The 605 freeway has over a few hundred new giant power poles running it’s length for the sole purpose of providing solar power to So. Cal. And despite all of this new clean renewable energy, my electric bill keeps increasing.

Solar is a great idea if you want to live off the grid, but not competitive at all if you have available utilities.
Monday was always laundry day at our house and my mom worked every day. Our Mondays began at 4 a.m. The laundry was all done and hung out by 7 a.m. One of the chores on my list at the end of my school day was to take down and fold laundry and put it all away, except for the bedding which my mom ironed on the mangle on Monday evening after dinner and shirts, pants and dresses which went into the refrigerator after being sprinkled. Tuesday night was set aside for ironing of those items.
It’s a matter of priorities and everyone in the family helping out, including the kids. Of course we didn’t spend hours in front of the TV and kids didn’t play video games either. HOA’s are another matter I’d rather not get on my soap box about. We did put up a short clothes line in our back yard though and have noticed a very few others popping up. None of them extend above the fence line though. So far so good!
A salesman convinced my brother to put solar cells on his house. He told my brother that they would pay for themselves with the electricity he would sell back to the power company. That was two years ago and my brother has never made a red cent from them.
