Have never understood why the greenies haven’t insisted on going back to the installation of clothes lines. We didn’t have a clothes dryer for at least the first 25 years of my life. Loved the smell of fresh sheets on the bed and whites certainly were whiter without having to use so much of that “evil” bleach.

Because there’s more to solar than just drying something.

I’m sure the hippies aren’t against clotheslines, but it’s only one aspect of many things that use electricity.

Barbra Streisand was infamous for her condescending “advice” to use clotheslines, so it’s been out there. Trouble is, if everyone went back to clotheslines, the screams from home owner’s associations across the country would be deafening, it’s too unsightly for them. And, with nobody home during the day in most working age households, who has the time? Are you going to hang it out at night and take it down the next night?
