The bad news: Earth's climate change problem just passed a point of no return. Atmospheric carbon levels have passed 400 parts per million, and they won't return to more environment-friendly levels "ever again for the indefinite future."
The good news? Oh, wait, no. Sorry. We're pretty screwed.
Carbon dioxide just hit its annual minimum at Mauna Loa Observatory and failed to dip below 400 ppm https://t.co/m0ZoyzgcEf Climate Central (@ClimateCentral) September 28, 2016
We already knew it was bad. After all, in the last 20 years, humanity destroyed 1.27 million square miles10 percentof the Earth's wilderness. Climate change has "devastated" 93 percent of the Great Barrier Reef. The world's so screwed that genius Stephen Hawking recently claimed that "the human race has no future if it doesn't go to space."

That we might stop is the true climate change crisis.
Oh wait...
If there were no people on earth wouldn’t volcanoes still erupt? Earthquakes happen? Floods? Forest fires? It seems “Mother Earth” is doing quite well in destroying herself.
Man made global warming is a hoax.
And natural global warming is a good thing (ask the European at the end of the little ice age a few centuries ago.)
Exactly! Seems like the scare mongers have overplayed their hand on this one.
Look where the readings were taken. Of course the carbon content will be higher around major volcanoes in Hawaii. What BS.
Yet the “Greenies” want to deprive that little green guy and his many friends of their food!
Atmospheric carbon dioxide has reached a historic threshold as levels remain above 400 parts per million
It's not historic. Real scientists tell us the level has been much higher in past millenia. The announced "scary level" is simply an insignificant amount, especially considering it's a natural component of the atmosphere...NOT a toxic pollutant.
Here's a little grade-school math:
Four hundred One millionths = 400/1,000,000
Divide by 100....400/1000000 = 4/10,000ths
Divide by four 4/10,000 = 1/2500th
1/2500 = 0.0004 = .04%
AKA: Four hundredths of a percent.
That's not even close to one percent.
For comparison sake, Oxygen is 21% of the atmosphere, Nitrogen is 78%.
HELL-freaking-LOW!
Cool, we doomed so now we don’t “need to do something” about this political myth. Anyone pushing this myth can have this fact pointed out to them. “Too late, we are all going to die now” according to your own “data”.
Oh noes!
GREAT! So now we can stop worrying about it, funding studies of it, regulating emissions, passing punitive fines and taxes, etc. Right?
Water vapor and methane are much more formidable greenhouse gasses. What’s the PPM on those?
What happened to the ozone hole crisis? Did it ever close?
What happened to the depletion of the rainforest crisis? Did it get replanted?
Silly. Of course not. No fracking/infernal combustion engines= no volcanoes, erfquakes, tornadoes, snow storms................... You know the rest.
Re: Four hundredths of a percent.
Yet some of these phony so-and-so’s, including science teachers, like to compare Earth to Venus in terms of the “green house effect”. Only problem is, CO2, as you point out, on Earth comprises a measly .04% of the atmosphere. On Venus it’s a whopping 96 or 97%!
Thank you, thank you. We are saved!
The next glacial age that is over due, has been staved off for a few more years. Keep up the good work :)
Excellent, that means we can stop worrying about it! /S
There is obviously no further need for all climate scientists who have taken my money via the corrupt government.
I guess what pushed us over the edge was 0bama and Al Gore and all the elites using an immense amount of carbon fuel traveling around to tell us to stop using carbon fuel.
If 0bama and his carbon using, planet destroying ilk would have stayed at home none of this would have happened.
“Honey? Cancel that solar panel installation we were gonna do.”
“Oh, and bump the a/c down to 68°, will ya? I’m hot.”
Think I’ll order some more bathing suits and sun block.
