"You shut your mouth when you're talking to me." So goes the line from the classic American film "Wedding Crashers." A line that I took to heart as I watched a good chunk of Monday night's presidential debate on mute.
Why? Not because I couldn't bear to hear what the candidates said. Instead, I wanted to analyze the nonverbals (which go a long way to determining likability) without distraction. Yes, optics matter.

You must be out of touch with today’s “journalists”. It’s unusual to find a story without a spelling or grammatical error alone, without getting down to the actual content. Stupid, yes. But they hold the levers of influence and few are smart enough to recognize them for what they are.
Trump calls them the “worst people”, which is close enough for me.
“...The PODIUM is the platform you stand on. Same root as podiatrist....”
*****************************************************************************
Podiatrists specialize in platforms? :-)
A caller on the last hour of the Herman Cain show said he’d rather have a trickle down economy than no economy at all.
Robotic repetition doomed little Marco in one of the Republican debates too.
I only listened to the debate. So I saw no visuals and I too thought it was a draw.
Hey - that's the first thing I noticed - it was hurting my eyes.
I had sound down a bit (her screech hurts my ears, too) and was browsing NRO Tweets - so, I had fun....
Big deal most here know the difference but though repeated use by millions upon millions of people they became one thing I wish she was leaning on the podium that would mean she passed out again
I fast forwarded every time it was Hillary[s turn because I can’t stand to hear the Screech. I think I still got the gist of the debate while keeping my sanity. Hillary lies through her teeth and has no idea what she’s talking about anyway,
Trump showed up in good form for the debate last night.
And while those of us who know a lot about how things have been going in our country wish that he had ripped Hillary more...his efforts last night to come across Presidential and still draw critical contrasts is proving to have worked.
For Heaven’s sake, a Time Poll on who won the debate, which normally swings hard to the DNC is showing, after over 1.6 million votes Trump winning THIS debate 55% to 45%.
http://time.com/4 /presidential-debate-clinton-trump-survey/
The CNBC poll, and you know who that one normally goes to, with almost 1 million votes, is showing Trump winning that debate 67% to 33% for Pete’s sake.
http://www.cnbc.com/ /vote-who-won-the-first-presidential-d ;
So most Americans not only see that he showed up...but liked what he had to say.
That is amazing and has to be driving Hillary and the DNC crazy.
Good. They deserve every bit of it.
The fact is, the American people have seen enough of and heard enough of Hillary over the last 30 years.
...and more and more of them believe Trump means what he says and is capable of delivering on it.
BTW, of course the Drudge poll is showing a huge victory for Trump. With 750,000 votes it has Trump winning 82% to Hillary’s 18%.

Dang. I wish I were like you, and never used a word incorrectly or confused terms. If the requirement were to be always perfect in this regard, most of the folks on FR would be too “ignorant” to opine at all.
You are correct. Trump may have just wanted until Hillary had moved on before approaching Holt.
“I am pretty sure I saw Trump shake the moderators hand.”
You are correct. Hillary made it to Holt first; while they were exchanging pleasantries, Trump gave attention to someone in the audience (fwiw, I too thought Trump was going to ignore Holt). Once Trump’s exchange with that person was finished, he went over to shake Holt’s hand.
Trump looked presidential, Hillary looked like an angry red pepper.
The accuracy of the writing is a direct indication of both effort and intellect put in to something and thus a nearly perfect indicator of if I should give any credence to the content. YMMV
Nothing like reinforcing the mental image of her pervert husband by saying, “trickle down” and “stiffed people”.
A post on FR is one thing, and we are all part of the fray here.
A piece published under a byline should be held to a different standard. In particular, a piece wherein someone touts, or at least calls attention to, their ostensibly professional analysis.
When hillary says ‘trickle down’ i can’t help but think of adult diapers.
She should have worn the orange jumpsuit. It would have come across as more honest.
