Trump and Clinton tangled over the economy, her use of a private mail server and his unwillingness to release his income tax returns on Monday night.
They engaged in a vigorous back-and-forth on the debate stage at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, as polls showed them locked in a tight race.
However, after the debate's end, polls conducted by a number of media websites showed their readers felt the real estate mogul came out on top.
Trump acknowledged the result, tweeting: 'Wow, did great in the debate polls (except for @CNN - which I don't watch). Thank you!'

Can you hear the People sing?
He won because he was authentic. He's not a smooth, polished, smarmy politician and that's what I like about him. He showed flashes of real anger when talking about job loss in this country and how working people have been abused by Washington elites. And he should be angry!
Clinton looked more prepared...she had her answers memorized. Trump looked real, and sincere and that gives him the BIG win in my estimation. He's connecting with people like no one else has come close to doing since Ronald Reagan.
Explain Trumps statement last nite, you Hillary support how the Fed holding interest rates near zero will cause the stock market to crash when they raise them . The Federal Reserve have been holding interest rates near zero which is what is propping up the stock market for Obama.
That servantboy or whatever Hillary supporter was calling me and Trump ignorant so I asked him to explain Trump's statements last nite. that troll did not answer.
Trump knows more than anyone. Period
She kept saying trickle down didn’t work. Hell your rapist husband rode that economy you Can’t Understand Normal Thinking
“I thought he looked/sounded like a five year old.”
We know. We heard you the first five hundred times you said it.
It’s ‘hurdle’ concern troll.
IGNORE this TROLL!!!
LOL~!
“I wonder how many of those polls were FReeped?”
All of them, but we’re statistically insignificant. There aren’t enough of us to jiggle the needle.
But trolls are crunchy, and they taste good with ketchup :-)
I prefer mustard but carry on!!!! Love the response about the 500th time!!!
My take on the lack of people willing to run for office is that if you’ve ever said or done anything much less unethical but politically incorrect, it will be found out and spread far and wide. That’s discounting the physical danger that seems to be present more than it should be in politics these days, particularly at the lowest levels.
>>We know. We heard you the first five hundred times you said it.<<
Perhaps he’ll sound like a six year old next debate. There....that help?
“People are tired of Obama. By hand-cuffing herself to him, Hillary cut herself off from the possibility of starting afresh. She cant do that without repudiating him and his legacy.”
Did you hear her last night, singing the praises of Obama’s economy - and in the very next breath, bloviating about income inequality? I think most people heard that, and thought, “what the hell?”
The shrew is between a rock and a hard place. The country wants change, but she represents a continuation of the failed policies that Americans are rejecting. Trouble is, she can’t fake being a change candidate.
>>Last night was nothing but a recitation of talking points, commercials, and rally speeches<<
Except for the portion where Hillary said, “perhaps he won’t release his tax returns because he’s paid zero income taxes for the last few years”.
Trump as she was talking leaned over and said, “That makes me smart”.
Middle income Americans are carrying the load. Yea yea, I hear all the time, the top 1% pays 80% of the taxes.
So, if true, then why every year a list of the top ten or twenty or fifty corporations that pay 0% taxes.
Point is, Trump may think it’s cute and smart and simply following the laws by skirting paying taxes, but it doesn’t set well with middle class Americans who are being hammered.
Trump needs to learn to put a filter between his brain and his lips.
“Perhaps hell sound like a six year old next debate. There....that help?”
It helps me to understand that you’re one of those who was more impressed by Clinton the memorizer bunny, than by Trump, a genuine leader of courage and accomplishment.
>>a genuine leader of courage and accomplishment.<<
Lol. Pretty funny. Well, hope you’re right. I’ve heard countless debates/rallies/town halls with Trump. He’z not been specific on ANY policy issues. He’s been very superficial and vague.
Every single rally/debate sounds almost identical. Yuge, believe me, it’s gonna be yuge. All the people...and there are many, trust me...many that will tell you, my plan, which is gonna be good...really really good, for everyone...good, believe me.
This is what I hear. Almost like Wha wha wha
Hillary looked smarmy, smug, condescending and wicked. Downright scary with that Cheshire cat smile. Too scripted, too phony. Not someone I would want in control of things, as you say someone not to trust. However, she is not the typical boring politician, because she is power hungry beyond the typical politician. This woman has a chip on her shoulder and wants to be controlling and manipulative. It's not about achieving good for people, as Trump wants. For Hillary, it's about control. Downright wicked looking woman.
Good grief, man. Haven't you taken the time to read his policy positions on his website? If you've heard countless town hall and rally speeches, how did you miss the string of solid policy talks he's given over the last six weeks? There have been several, and all have been acclaimed around these parts.
Trump is not a politician. He's a natural born executive type who's used his innate talents to grow a multi-billion dollar empire. He doesn't talk like the wonkish policy nerds you're used to hearing, and doesn't even attempt to convey all the minutiae of his game plans, when speaking extemporaneously in front of rally crowds.
He'll never be a polished speaker, but he does have the smarts and the courage to do those things most needed by our country at this time.
If flowery oratory is your thing, you may as well check out now. He'll never be your guy. Me - I want my country back, and I believe he's the guy who can get it done. End of story.
