Just looked at the picture again. Cocked but not locked. Safety is off. He was ready to shoot.

Let’s walk back to the wife video, mark 1:58 until the end

Look at the man in red. Look between his feet. He is clearly straddling (protecting) the gun until the detectives get there.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NI_sQDHEbRU

now forward to the copcam - mark 0:17, the man has exited his car and has an object in his hands, turns to see copcam, turns and walks backward from the three officers

and the dashcam - mark 0:51 - left arm is up towards passengersidecop, notices copcam mark 0:52, and cop to the side behind the pickup, arms down, walks backward - imo, he is trying to ‘stage’ - using distance to get a clear shot at any of the three cops in front of him. This is about the time the wife is repeating ‘don’t do it’.

I can see a book in his right hand. I can make out most the title of the book, it reads: The Audacity of Ho..

I’m going to try to blow this up on a video editor and 80” screen later.

I can see the holster but, cannot ascertain where the weapon is.

Stupid Jughead, with the big ears, kept getting in the way of the video and the second is grainy, which is odd given today’s technology.

What I interpret from Scott’s movements was a man maneuvering to get get a clear at the cops. While doing so, he was trying to conceal his weapon, trying to think how he would make his move and try to buy time to make his decision. This was a desperate man who knew the cops would find the gun and the marijuana “blunt” and that would throw him back into prison. It was the end of the road for him.

I interpret the video the same way you did. It literally was the end of the road for him.

What if he took his gun out of holster and it was in the truck, when he was shot?

I sure cannot tell from the quality of this video, which appears to have been recorded on VHS or even earlier on 8-track, which is odd given today’s tech.

I was going to sell these systems for the current leader in the field of Body Cams and this quality is disappointing.

There should be more video’s that provide better evidence.

Yeah the video quality sucks. You’d think cop’s bodycams would have first rate video since it will be used as evidence.

I left out a few words:

What I interpret from Scott’s movements was a man maneuvering to get a clear shot at the cops. While doing so, he was trying to conceal his weapon, trying to think how he would make his move and thinking as long as he had the gun there was a chance he could shoot his way out of the situation. All the time, from the time they ordered him out of the car, telling him to drop the gun, until he was walking backwards he was trying to figure out how to make his move. This was a desperate ex-con who knew the cops would find the gun and the marijuana “blunt” and that would throw him back into prison. It was the end of the road for him.

You didn’t have to correct jonrick - I read between the lines and I completely agree with your assessment. I think it’s right on.

That would mean five pre-birth murders, aka abortions.

The pistol is a Colt “Government Model” chambered in .380 ACP and introduced in 1984. The model was discontinued in 1994. It is a single action pistol with a 7 round single stack magazine.

So I heard, thanks for that.

This was a good shoot. In fact from my perspective these officers showed lots of restraint.

The older 1911 series had an inertia firing pin that is retracted after firing by a spring that surrounds most of the firing pin body. If the pistol is dropped muzzle down from a sufficient height on a solid surface, then the force of the impact might be sufficient to overcome the inertia of the firing pin at rest within the slide (especially a weak and worn one), causing it to go forward with enough force to detonate a cartridge primer, especially a sensitive one. Such an occurrence is quite uncommon though.

Later model non GI 1911’s utilize a firing pin safety that automatically releases the firing pin when the trigger is pulled just before the hammer strikes the firing pin, and serves to prevent such accidental discharges.

Oops! Misread your question. I thought the safety was engaged which it's not.

I retract my answer.

New answer: I don't know.
