White House: Transferring Internet control is limited government
Washington Examiner ^ | 9/22/16 | Nicole Duran

The White House mocked GOP nominee Donald Trump and Sen. Ted Cruz for trying to prevent the Commerce Department from transferring technical oversight of the Internet to an international body.

"It doesn't withstand scrutiny," President Obama's spokesman Josh Earnest said on Thursday.

"It also strikes me as a curious position for a self-described small government conservative to shut down the government to ensure that the federal government can continue to control the Internet," Earnest said of Cruz. "It doesn't make any sense."

Cruz is trying to stop the multi-year transition that will leave the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers in control of things such as naming Internet domains, by attaching a provision to a must-pass package that would keep the government funded past the Oct. 1 start of the new fiscal year.

Is this posted to separate thread—it should be as it is really serious!

Can this be reversed? How did this even happen?

Limited government is good, but not at the expense of freedom of speech. FUBO

Transferring Internet control is limited government...

Actually it is "World Government".

That would be the exact opposite of "Limited Government".

But thanks, Baracko, for Lib-splaining.

No, it’s not. Obama’s clever joke must mean it’s that important to his “flexibility” plan.

Abdication of responsibilities by selling the People, and much of the world, down the river is not “limited government”.

How so? There was already an article on FR that the international commission will not recognize American Constitutional free speech rights on the Internet. Plus, I don’t see how anyone can’t see the potential for even more national security breaches with international rather than American control over the Internet. By giving up control of the Internet to hostile and rival powers, the government is abdicating some of its most fundamental responsibilities to protect this nation and the free speech rights of its people. I don’t see how saying that is a non-sequitur.
