The White House mocked GOP nominee Donald Trump and Sen. Ted Cruz for trying to prevent the Commerce Department from transferring technical oversight of the Internet to an international body.
"It doesn't withstand scrutiny," President Obama's spokesman Josh Earnest said on Thursday.
"It also strikes me as a curious position for a self-described small government conservative to shut down the government to ensure that the federal government can continue to control the Internet," Earnest said of Cruz. "It doesn't make any sense."
Cruz is trying to stop the multi-year transition that will leave the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers in control of things such as naming Internet domains, by attaching a provision to a must-pass package that would keep the government funded past the Oct. 1 start of the new fiscal year.

I believe Duffy and Cruz want this to pass...I have heard that leadership is actually in support of the bill—the dems want to add lots of pork to the CR stuff GOP will never support, so that is why it is being offered now as a clean CR...hoping that will change.
If enough people contact their elected officials, it could make a difference...If Protect Internet Freedom Act is added to Zika bill, bammy would have to sign it.
I’m pleading ignorance on this because I really don’t know. However, I’d never trust it fully and once something is handed off, anything can happen. Safeguards can be taken down, new players can get involved, but what really concerns me are the scenarios I can’t think of.

If something “makes sense” to this administration, it’s a near certainty that a sane person not otherwise engaged in destroying the country by any means available would never wish to do it.
