'I can't find a job because I don't speak Spanish': Working class Alabama woman says changing demographics brought on by illegal immigration has left her struggling to find employment
Sandra Langlois, 42, is a resident of Albertville, Alabama, where the demographic has changed significantly due to immigration
She says she is still unemployed because she has told prospective bosses she doesn't speak Spanish
30 per cent of the population of the town of Albertville is Hispanic
A CNN poll shows that working class whites feel that immigrants have negatively impacted their job prospects Survey finds that working class whites in the South are more likely to support deporting illegal immigrants
Though Albertville is known as the home of the Mueller Company, the fire hydrant-manufacturing giant, it is also the place where poultry processing plants have come in and hired a labor force made up predominantly of immigrants.
Locals like Langlois say the large immigrant population has made it harder for those here legally to find work.
'It's just not fair,' she says. 'It's like they're getting special treatment.'
Others, however, say that the immigrants have bolstered the economy because they are willing to do jobs that native whites will not do.
'There's plenty of jobs,' says an Albertville resident, Ronnie Wise. 'You've just got to want to do it.'
Wise, who is himself unemployed, told CNN that the local economy benefits from a large immigrant population.
'A lot of people don't want to [work in certain jobs], and they (immigrants) will. If it weren't for them, we wouldn't have any chicken plants here.'
CNN cited a poll which said that 27 per cent of working class whites believe that their families have been negatively impacted by illegal immigrants taking jobs in their communities.

The joke I’ve heard is “Learn Spanish, because in 20 years your subordinates will speak Spanish. Learn Chinese, because in 20 years your supervisor will speak Chinese.”
I used to work as a dairy herdsman on a dairy ranch in Tulare, California. As most of the milkers were Mexicans, and would meet the definition today of being illegals, the language around the milking barn was of truly “barnyard” variety.
A most useful phrase was, “chinga tu madre pinche pendejo!”.
If we got rid of government welfare..whites would have to do work they may not want to do to eat
Who the hell did this work 20 years ago
It is the goofy people who say everyone must go to college
Well when I was working construction in Denver
The “DUMB MEXICANS” kids were getting apprentice jobs as electricians, plumbers, carpenters
No debt and good jobs
Except you have to work
Lo Siento mi Amigo! Es no bueno!
You didn’t get into any fights for that?
I guess they have a really good sense of humor.
Do Mexicans in Mexico have to dial “1” for Spanish now?
I didn’t think so.
Just smile and say “Si, si, rapido, rapdio, I clean up, ok.” That seems to work for them.
Deport illegals!
Expel muslims!
You’d be surprised at how many places there where this is true. Obviously with respect to construction crews and landscaping crews and kitchen crews, etc., there’s no room for non-Spanish speakers. But you might be more surprised, I used to work as a legal aid attorney, and all support staff was required to know Spanish, and even several of the positions that required law degrees.
Habla en Espanol ??? PING
Wise, who is himself unemployed, told CNN that the local economy benefits from a large immigrant population.
Then why don't YOU have a job a-hole? Because it's easier to sit on your fat ass and collect a check while you criticize honest Americans who are locked out of a job in their own country?
If the immigrants spoke English, American job seekers wouldn’t have to speak Spanish.
She should go on SSDI.

She should drive over to Montgomery and personally thank the Communists at the Southern Poverty Law Center who never saw an illegal alien they didn’t like.
Immigrants are here legally. These aren’t immigrants, they’re invaders.
Didn’t say I used the phrase, but that or something similar was passed around freely among the crew.
And yes, there were fights. Reason to fire them then.
I think the real point of the article is not a lazy person but that the nature and language of America is changing and not in a good way. In fact, a horrible way.
Having spent several years in the Far East, & Mexico, I found it quite efficient to learn how to obtain female companionship and order a drink in the language of the host country.
HOWEVER
It seems that the people we USNs were around during this period had learned enough English to communicate with us, thereby making it easier to get our money from us.
I often said (jokingly??) that I got out of the Construction (Asphalt) day to day business because I had already ‘mastered’ ebonics and was to old to learn Spanish as that was becoming the labor pool.
When I started in the business in early 70s in Virginia, the labor pool was White Superintendents-mostly White Foremen, White dump truck drivers, White Equipment Operators, Black & White owner/operators, Black Laborers.
by the mid 90s the Spanish had replaced the Blacks in the labor & owner operator class, a lot of Blacks were operators and Foremen.
My limited Spanish is si si, nyet, adios MF’r.
If I were in Mexico I would probably be ‘ashamed’ of myself but seeing as I am in the USofA, you should be learning OUR way.
