Those screaming “mah freedoms” are just regurgitating media sensationalism. ICANN has for several years now wanted to have a more global environment to write policy for the internationalization of DNS. Being an American corporation, there were restricted by American regulation. Additionally, ICANN has operated outside the US Department of Commerce since 2009, they are simply moving to a new country of operation. The internet “phone book” will become larger with more domain names available that might upset people/corporations in the US because of their direction and or name. .XXX, .cokeacola, .fordsucks, .mormonlies, names like these could go up for sale to the highest bidder upsetting certain corps, political personalities and religious groups in the US.

So, for the record, you aren't concerned about a foreign, non-American entity's control overseeing the internet?

Do you not think it's possible that freedom of speech could be controlled or that taxation wouldn't occur?

I'm not criticizing you, I'm only curious of your views.

Is Paul Rosenzweig a mindless sensationalist screaming “mah freedoms”?

Are Senator Sessions and Grassley in the same basket?

Grassley specifically agrees with Rosenzweig in almost every category.

Paul Rosenzweig the ‘sensationalist screamer’ ...

Former Homeland administrator.

Runs a firm that consults for Homeland.

Author of cyberware research and freedom of speech concerns.

ADVISER to ICANN’s transition process — some of his advise was adopted.

In addition, corporations, governments, individuals create domain names by the dozens than file a copyright claim to it. If Freerepublic decided to use .republic it might already be copyrighted by another entity and therefore would be rejected. Freerepublic would have to use the .com.

The bill prevents ICANN from going outside of US and sensures that the .GOV and >MIL extensions will remain under US control....

IF Obama and Zuckerberg types want this transfer to globalists, it clearly is not going to protect my freedoms.
