America is being held hostage by a tiny minority of absolute lunatics for whom owning two, three, eight or even 10 guns is simply not enough.
Thats the main finding of the first comprehensive study of gun owners in two decades.
Among the many findings that handgun purchases are soaring, that Americans wrongly believe they need more guns for personal safety, and that there are more privately held guns in this country than cars is a bit of news so shocking, it should embolden our spineless lawmakers in Washington:

So if gun owners represent a smaller portion of our population and nearly half of all guns are owned by dead-enders isnt it time for our politicians to realize that they dont have to listen to them anymore?

Frankly, this self-defense argument should be handled by the psychiatrists of all these fraidy cats rather than our politicians, who should be debating concrete facts, not unfounded fears.
Worse, the only thing the self-defense crowd has to fear is the self-defense crowd itself: Studies show that people who die in accidental shootings were more than three times as likely to have had a firearm in their home.

You ain’t asking for a VOTE on that, R U ??
This is a lie !!
This character is so queer that his last three boyfriends turned hetero...
As long as you don't tell me that I owe you my life and freedom because you walk around with a handgun or like to shoot trees with them back home.
For all practical purposes, I’m a nobody, of no particular importance or popularity.
But this article is making me feel good, as I’m apparently in the top 3% of something.
Seriously, this article is just total BS.
Doubt it.
Exactly. More firearms than cars. Yet annual deaths by firearms (excluding suicides*) is around 13,000 per year in the US. Annual deaths by vehicle accident run over 33,000 per year.
So looking at the situation in completely practical, unemotional terms - fewer cars (than firearms) are causing more deaths (nearly 3x) per year. If this author's concern really is public safety, they ought to be applying their energies to where they can do the most good. Of course, if your objective isn't really public safety then the author might want to use emotion and manipulation to further his/her real agenda...
(*) I typically discount suicides by firearms because those people want to die. The "success rate" for suicide by firearm is very high - it is not an option someone just looking to make a statement, or crying out for help, etc. chooses. Those people want to die and they will find a way, with or without firearms.
My great x4 grandfather and his 4 brothers did (more than any family in his county)- after hearing Patrick Henry’s speech in St. John’s church - they lived not far from him in Hanover County, VA - I have a copy of his 1832 Revolutionary War Pension Application where he explains it all.
I was born in FL, grew up in Indiana, lived all over the country - and only found this out 3 years after I moved within 20 miles of where he lived.....I just “came home....”
I wonder what percentage of hack “journalists” get the majority of publication space as opposed to the rest of the population.
“What percentage of Colonists fought the British?”
3%
...and today’s 3% are equipped a whole lot better.
If you want a gun, buy one.
If you don't want a gun, don't buy one.
It's (still) a (more or less) free country. I've made my choice, you've made yours.
As stated, all I'm asking for is fed.gov to respect the Constitution. We'd all be better off if it did.
If our representatives should not listen to the claimed 3% who are gun owners, why should they listen to the 2 or 3% of the population who are homosexuals? Sodomy kills far more people than guns owned by non criminals.
The poll is obviously flawed, but that doesn’t stop Cuntzman from getting in a dither, and fantasizing about getting the cops to take away our guns.
“I seriously doubt the accuracy of this claim.”
I don’t. Not unusual for a small percentage to hold a majority of something influential (money, guns, real estate, etc). It’s an exponential curve, meaning most have few but few have most.
A key statistic he’s pointedly ignoring: 50% of citizens have 100% of the guns.
There’s a diminishing return for someone owning more than others. You can only use one gun at a time, so having 100 guns really doesn’t mean much beyond someone who owns one. As “Click & Clack” put it: the difference between two headlights and one headlight is a whole lot less than the difference between one headlight and no headlight.
That tiny majority includes the LSM and liberal politicians.
“...there are more privately held guns in this country than cars...”
Well yeah.
Median gun price is around $500.
Median car price is around $15,000.
You can get 30 guns for the price of 1 car.
Lets substitute LGQT for gun owner in this article.
New political study shows that 3% of American adults are liberals and hold us all hostage
America is being held hostage by a tiny minority of absolute lunatics for whom the liberal agenda is their credo in life.
Thats the main finding of the first comprehensive study of liberal-leftism in two decades.
Among the many findings that they actually believe that liberalism does good in society, that Americans benefit from an all-encompassing totalitarian surveillance government, and that there are more racially oppressed minorities in the country than the majority is a bit of news so shocking, it should embolden our spineless lawmakers in Washington:
Roughly half of all leftism is espoused by just 3% of American adults mostly in academia and the media.
Call them “liberal idiots” or, as I prefer, “hateful stupid whack jobs” but whatever you call them, they have a disproportionate influence over social policy in this country.
So if liberals represent a smaller portion of our population and nearly half of all liberals dead-heads isn’t it time for our politicians to realize that they dont have to listen to them anymore?
missing one from that list- I best remedy the situation
