Rex Harrison, my little guy, has passed at the age of 14.
An believable friendly little guy, for a Cocker Spaniel, he loved to give kisses, love and bring joy on even the worst day.
He was a funny dog who would, like a monkey, attempt to get the nits out of my hair. Never had a dog do that.
He was always patient, observant and wanted to whatever I wanted to do.
We called him Rex Harrison due to his black coat, with a streak of white in his chest and white paws...Like a tuxedo.
He was always quite the gentleman.
Pass on my friend and I will meet you in heaven one day...
A Dog for Jesus
(Where dogs go when they die)
I wish someone had given Jesus a dog.
As loyal and loving as mine.
To sleep by His manger and gaze in His eyes
And adore Him for being divine.
As our Lord grew to manhood His faithful dog,
Would have followed Him all through the day.
While He preached to the crowds and made the sick well
And knelt in the garden to pray.
It is sad to remember that Christ went away.
To face death alone and apart.
With no tender dog following close behind,
To comfort its Masters Heart.
And when Jesus rose on that Easter morn,
How happy He would have been,
As His dog kissed His hand and barked its delight,
For The One who died for all men.
Well, the Lord has a dog now, I just sent Him mine,
The old pal so dear to me.
And I smile through my tears on this first day alone,
Knowing theyre in eternity.
Day after day, the whole day through,
Wherever my road inclined,
Four feet said, Wait, Im coming with you!
And trotted along behind.

Right now my son’s gentle giant Rottie has his head on my lap giving me his “What’s wrong? you look sad” look. They understand us better than we realize.
“If you take in a poor, sick, starving dog, feed him, heal him, and help him prosper he will not bite you. This is the principal difference between a dog and a man.”
Mark Twain
God Bless FRiend. It always hurts when we lose our furry family members....
Sorry For your loss Vendome.
So sorry for your loss.
I’m sure your Cocker-friend will be dearly missed, you have our condolences.
Lost our sweet Cairn Terrier, Roxie last February. She arrived on planet Earth in April 1998 so she was close to 18 yrs old.
She had CHF but fortunately enjoyed very good health on her medication up until just a week before she passed and died a peaceful, natural death in her bed. I still get pretty sad when I think about that, so I try to focus on the joy Roxie brought into our life for many years. Your home is not quite the same, no matter how long or short you have had a dog’s companionship when they are gone.
On Saturday we bring home a new girl, Pandee who is a tiny parti-color Morkie (sort of a Maltese and a Yorkie)— so the adventure begins again!
Our condolences. One of the most recent dogs that acquired us as his peoples was a Cocker Spaniel. Funster. Loved that dog. He came to us ill, and died within a couple of years. We know he was quite elderly when he arrived at our place. Somebody dumped him here in rural Riverside. Any number of scenarios as to why, but we were happy to have the little man for those two years. Our experience with that Cocker, and having read up on them led us to believe they’re good dogs.
I’m sorry.
I actually get a little tear in my eye reading of your loss. I’m so sorry. We lost our kitty Ciel this summer and it still hurts.
So sorry,Yaelle
He never came to me when I would call
Unless I had a tennis ball,
Or he felt like it,
But mostly he didn’t come at all.
When he was young
He never learned to heel
Or sit or stay,
He did things his way.
Discipline was not his bag
But when you were with him things sure didn’t drag.
He’d dig up a rosebush just to spite me,
And when I’d grab him, he’d turn and bite me.
He bit lots of folks from day to day,
The delivery boy was his favorite prey.
The gas man wouldn’t read our meter,
He said we owned a real man-eater.
He set the house on fire
But the story’s long to tell.
Suffice it to say that he survived
And the house survived as well.
On the evening walks, and Gloria took him,
He was always first out the door.
The Old One and I brought up the rear
Because our bones were sore.
He would charge up the street with Mom hanging on,
What a beautiful pair they were!
And if it was still light and the tourists were out,
They created a bit of a stir.
But every once in a while, he would stop in his tracks
And with a frown on his face look around.
It was just to make sure that the Old One was there
And would follow him where he was bound.
We are early-to-bedders at our house — I guess I’m the first to retire.
And as I’d leave the room he’d look at me
And get up from his place by the fire.
He knew where the tennis balls were upstairs,
And I’d give him one for a while.
He would push it under the bed with his nose
And I’d fish it out with a smile.
And before very long He’d tire of the ball
And be asleep in his corner In no time at all.
And there were nights when I’d feel him Climb upon our bed
And lie between us,
And I’d pat his head.
And there were nights when I’d feel this stare
And I’d wake up and he’d be sitting there
And I reach out my hand and stroke his hair.
And sometimes I’d feel him sigh and I think I know the reason why.
He would wake up at night
And he would have this fear
Of the dark, of life, of lots of things,
And he’d be glad to have me near.
And now he’s dead.
And there are nights when I think I feel him
Climb upon our bed and lie between us,
And I pat his head.
And there are nights when I think I feel that stare
And I reach out my hand to stroke his hair,
But he’s not there.
Oh, how I wish that wasn’t so,
I’ll always love a dog named Beau.

Every day is a blessing. And when the time comes and you are ready, open your heart for another blessing, and adopt another. There is no love like that of a dog, and sadly, their lives are far too short. Love them with all of your heart while you can.
Thanks for your kindness, but I didn’t lose a pet recently. I agree, Heaven will be filled with dogs; cats, not so sure.
As a proud mother of 2 puppies and an adult Golden Retriever, please accept my condolences. It’s never easy to lose a pet because they are family.
We lost Jet...July 4th. He was a Border Collie..it's not easy.
All things bright and beautiful, All creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful, The Lord God made them all.
My condolences on the loss of your dog.
We lost our old dog Jake to a tragic accident
in August.
He was a boxer/Dane cross, and was a beautiful brindle boy.
We miss him terribly!
We know how you feel!
my prayers to you that God may somehow comfort you- losing a beloved pet is incredibly hard......
i’m dealing with the same thing as our beloved Maltese Maggy was diagnosed with kidney disease- though there’s a ray of hope as an infection may be causing a skew in the numbers...its been nothing but a week of stress, sadness and anxiety waiting, hoping and a LOT of praying that God will touch her and make heal her.....spare a prayer for our Maggie if you can and God Bless you and your family...
The spirit of Rex is forever attached to your spirit. The past is not non-existent. It’s still space and all its contents in other time frames. In those time frame you are both still there.
When your time of passing comes you’ll be taking Rex with you through the Door. It’s a very hard time of waiting and separation. Crushing times apart. Grabbing another 4-legged friend for eternity is the best relief.
Prayers for Maggie
