Hillary Clinton Was Politically Incorrect, but She Wasn't Wrong About Trump's Supporters
Clinton said half of Donald Trumps supporters were prejudiced. If anything, her numbers are too low.
Ta-Nehisi Coates Sep 10, 2016
This week Matt Lauer was subject to withering criticism for his ineffectual interrogation of Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. In a litany of complaints, one rose above allLauers failure to challenge Trumps mendacious claim that he opposed the Iraq War. That Trump was lying is not a matter of opinion, but demonstrable fact.
Lauers inability to cite the record was a striking journalistic failurebut one related to the larger failures implicit in political reporting today. Political reporting, as it is now practiced, is a not built for a world where outright lying is one candidates distinguishing feature. And the problem is not limited to the lies the candidate tells, but encompasses the lies we tell ourselves about why the candidate exists in the first place.
Yesterday, Hillary Clinton claimed that roughly half of Trumps supporters could be characterized as either racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic you name it. Clinton hedged by saying she was being grossly generalistic but given that no one appreciates being labeled a bigot, that statement still feels harshor if you prefer, politically incorrect.
One way of reporting on Clintons statement is to weigh its political cost, ask what it means for her campaign, or attempt to predict how it might affect her performance among certain groups. This path is in line with the current imperatives of political reporting and, at least for the moment, seems to be the direction of coverage. But there is another line of reporting that could be pursuedWas Hillary Clinton being truthful or not?

Haggary should be prison confined (PC)
This is simply Hillary’s way to implement Alinsky’s Rule #12. She was, and continues to be, a disciple of Saul. But this will NEVER be put to her by any of the fauning press.
Romney should have doubled down on his 47% remarks.
Those guys are really nice including all those homely women in their photo.
The Atlantic got their Talking Points, beyond deplorable
Gotta keep that hate alive.
This is so unfair. Being a Deplorable is really hard work. Today I have about 12 baby ducks I have to stomp to death, 6 kittens to drown (one at a time) and I need to let my lawn mower just idle for a few hours to destroy the ozone.
Hillary thinks its easy, its not.
But ya do what ya gotta do.
The Deplorable Gift Basket that keeps on giving.
“We know that some 40 percent of Trumps supporters believe blacks are more violent, more criminal, lazier, and ruder than whites.”
If you look at the Reuters article this links to, Hillary supporters are at about 25-33% - very close to 40% when you add in those who told the pollster what they want to hear. Put your elitist friends in the “basket”, Hillary. And
These surveys ask for feelings; they don’t ask if you apply it to individuals you meet. As Christians, we do NOT.
Unfortunately, the “violent” and “criminal” descriptions can be found in real data.
The “lazy” and “rude” descriptions are based on a feeling that one may have, if in general certain types of people direct indifference or hatred against you more than other types. Can’t Trump supporters be snowflakes too?
Coates doesn't realize that Anthony Johnson, a black man, won in court the right to enslave John Casor, a black man, thereby starting the salve trade in what became America.
That is up next. I think we need to push the meme that her calling us “deplorables” is a dog whistle for her followers to kill us off.
+1
We need to start using the “bigot” word early and often. These people throw the word around and many don’t even know the actual meaning. People like this are the dictionary definition of one.
Ignorant bigot.
Sorry, but this FReeper has no idea of who Heydrich is. I found Reinhard Tristan Eugen Heydrich. Is this the same person? The description of his work sounds very much like it would be in line with what Hitlery’s followers want.
(I am an informal student of history, but I know very little about Nazi Germany. To be honest, reading about it has always creeped me out. Considering what may be coming, perhaps I should overcome my reticence.)
Well said!
I suggest that others do what I began doing yesterday. While I am online, I periodically put in a search on Google — which I normally do not use — for “basket of deplorables” just to keep it trending.
Reinhard Heydrich. Second in command of Hitler’s SS. Eichmann’s boss and architect of the holocaust. A Nazi’s Nazi.

i believe that he is the main character in the upcoming Avatar part 2..
