A group of descendants of slaves sold by Georgetown University in 1838 was unsatisfied with the unprecedented steps the college took to accommodate them, and demanded partnership in a $1 billion foundation vaguely aimed at producing "reconciliation."
In 1838, amid dire financial trouble, Georgetown University sold off 272 slaves for $115,000 (over $3 million in today's dollars). Last week, the university's president, John DeGioia, announced Georgetown would offer special admissions preference for any of the descendants of those slaves, and he promised to build an on-campus memorial to the slaves and renamed a building after one of them. He also promised a public apology for the university's role in the slave trade.

Be done with them, there is no living with them.
No one should be allowed to receive a dime of such money unless they first move to Africa, irrevocably renounce their US citizenship and accept a lifetime ban on entering the United States.
And any money should include per-capita deductions for the costs of black crime, black welfare use, and all other black social pathologies in excess of the non-black rates. (suspect this might result in a negative “pay-out”)
Now the descendants of those who fought in the North just have to hit up that foundation for reimbursement.
In confederate dollars. (ooh, is that racist?)
“You give the Social Justice Warriors one inch, they demand back 1 mile.”

My thought exactly.
the use of the word “reconciliation” is aimed at not eliminating the payment of reparations to the descendants if democrats are elected. They will say, we didn’t get “reparations” yet.
That’s a nice round figure. $1Billion.
And how about another $Billon for every other group that demands it.
I “identify as” a black man. I want a $billon too!
As an Alumnus of the University, he should be responsible for some of that $1 Billion.
I apologize for everything that hapened before I was born, OK?
It’s ALL MY FAULT.
Can we “move on” now?
I’M A VICTIM, DAMN IT!
Georgetown doesn’t owe them squat. They were never enslaved and they are several generations removed from people who were enslaved. There is no legitimate claim at all here, but ofc liberal academics are stoopid enough to think there is one.....
The tragedy here is that we can't take a billion dollars away from all of the left wing universities.
perhaps Georgetown University may respond....
NO BILLION DOLLARS, we’ll take our slaves back instead!
I see that Georgetown’s endowment is $1.5 billion. I say just hand them Georgetown, fire all the left wing faculty, and let the SJWs run the place into the ground. They do a good enough job of that already.....
I think they should pay them all off. The descendants of 272 slaves are about 5 million +- 2 million based upon SJW estimates. So those Jesuit priests had better get out on the street selling rosaries, laundering money, coping some bucks from Soros, begging the Clinton Global Crime Initiative, etc.
Very good! Thank you. Two left-wing organizations out to destroy themselves. What could be better?!
The Democrat party completely owns this.
The party that controlled the blacks, perpetuated slavery, the Slave trade, and Jim Crow till the latter part the 20th Century.
The party who held all southern state legislatures and governorships in the entire slave era.
The party of Sheriff Bull Connor, Governor’s Maddox and Wallace who ordered police to use dogs, firehoses, shootings, and beatings to control blacks.
The party being the KKK and it’s terrorizing blacks and lynchings.
The party that filibustered against the Civil Rights Act.
The party whose filibuster against it was stopped by Republicans.
The party responsible for the plight of blacks today.
The party that historically and currently controls the American cities where racial strife, racial mob violence and black poverty fester.
Yes, Democrats truly own this.
The gimmedat family in all their glory.
