The ink was barely dry on Dells acquisition of EMC, the largest technology deal ever, valued at $67 billion when it was announced in October last year and already the layoff rumors are oozing from the woodwork.

But Dell needs to save some money, one way or the other. Dells corporate credit rating is at the upper end of junk. Its loaded to the gills with debt, stemming from when it was taken private. Now the EMC deal has piled new debt on the company, including $20 billion of bonds it sold in May, followed by a $5-billion leveraged loan.

Amazon builds their own commodity servers. Again if an overextended company put together an overextended deal where their only option is now laying off employees and bringing in indentured servants let them go bankrupt.
Let a better company pick up the technology at a discount and run it for a profit properly. What's the point of keeping too many companies around if they need cheap labor to make them successful?
I’ve been saying that since 1999 about the Union. In the dot com bubble the way EMC abused its employees specifically the Field engineers like myself was criminal. We carried pagers and were worked around the clock for years with little time off but we put up with it because the stock was doing great. Then came the tech bubble burst causing EMC stock to tank and subsequent the H-1B invasion.

There are MANY alternatives to the old guard. Do your research.
Talk to resellers - get advice. You can do better.
In my personal finances, EMC and VMWare are a very big deal.
As in PCs and laptops? This EMC deal has nothing to do with that business.
