Jurupa Unified School District officials received an unconfirmed report that two Indian Hills Elementary School students were diagnosed with leprosy, which prompted them to send a letter home to parents Friday, Sept. 2.
Though the information has not been confirmed, said Superintendent Elliott Duchon, school district officials decided to send the letter home as a precaution.
We wanted parents of the students to know, we wanted to get ahead of any rumors and make sure they had access to ample information, Duchon said in a phone interview Sunday evening.
Duchon would not say where the report came from, but did clarify that it did not come from a doctor or the Riverside County Department of Health.
The letter sent home to parents included information from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services website, which says though leprosy is feared as a highly contagious and devastating disease, it is well establish that Hansens disease (or leprosy) is not highly transmissible, is very treatable, and, with early diagnosis and treatment, is not disabling.
Leprosy is transmitted through respiratory droplets, according to the website. Ninety-five percent of the worlds population is naturally immune to the disease.
I saw real genuine lepers in Thailand back in 1968. Stubs for fingers, noses gone. It was bad!
NOW IT’S HERE and soon “they” will be voting Democrat!
Someone needs to perform a Caamora. (hope someone gets the reference)
I'll FReep Mail you when I finish building my new trebuchet, then we'll catch one to use as test ammo.
Those were some pretty rough books. It seems that grim & dark is all the rage these days.
I would also qualify that as to “technical” degrees. Then again, do foreign countries teach the mamby-pamby crap that is taught in US liberal arts crap holes?
Western nations? Probably. Maybe not.
Others, I doubt it seriously.
It’s a waste of money and time IMO.

Diversity is our doom.
Michael Savage has ranted long and well on all the diseases that illegal aliens bring into the USA due to complete lack of medical screening today.
Political correctness and diversity are the worst things to happen to the USA in my 60 year lifetime.
I’m not saying it is bad to have immigrants of all races. But they have to be screened and they have to assimilate. This “diversity” push is nothing but a method by the US government to Balkanize us into social factions that hate each other and will not meld. It is strictly a plan of “divide and conquer” so America is no longer the melting pot it once was, but instead keeps people divided against themselves so we are easier to manipulate and control.
I hate my government with a raging passion.
Thanks. I live in California and didn’t where it was.
So when I Googled it, I made a copy of the map in case I wasn’t the only one.
Washington, D.C., is the real leper colony.
Diverse diseases that were never or rarely in the US. The old wives’ myth that the more illnesses you’re exposed to the stronger your immune system will now be put to the test.
Result?
More people sick with horrible illnesses, thanks to a rogue government bringing in third world peoples carrying horrible illnesses in.
They’re special because they’re from third world hellholes and either “refugees” or illegals.
Rules and laws are only for us legal American citizens.
Armadillos and Hansen’s Disease (Leprosy)
Some armadillos in the southern United States are naturally infected with Hansen’s disease.
While its possible for you to get the disease from an armadillo, the risk is low. Most people who come into contact with armadillos are unlikely to get Hansens disease.
But, if you decide to see a doctor because of your contact with an armadillo, make sure you provide a complete history of armadillo contact. Your doctor can determine whether or not you have the disease. In the unlikely event that you get Hansens disease, your doctor can also help you get treatment.
When possible, avoid contact with armadillos, so youll be more certain youre not at risk for the disease.

Yet another installment of the FR game, “Guess the State!”
I live in Paul Ryan’s district. We’ve been dealing with whooping cough in the schools for years now
Maybe that’s what’s wrong with Hillary!
No...she has kennel cough.
Leprosy is caused by Mycobacterium leprae or Mycobacterium lepromatosis and is a very close relative of tuberculosis. Sometimes, leprosy manifests as a tuberculosis like disease; sometimes tuberculosis manifests as a leprosy like disease.
I’ve read the Chronicles of Thomas Covenant; they were not inaccurate as far as how leprosy is caused. They just did not provide a lot of information about it. Since the first Thomas Covenant books were written in the 1970s, the author may not have known about the connection between armadillos and leprosy, and, therefore, Covenant’s disease would have been of mysterious origin.
