Pope Francis is imploring Catholics to confess their sins against the environment, calling the degradation of the climate a sin against God.
In his message marking the World day of Prayer for the Care of Creation on Thursday, the pontiff said climate change is caused in part by human activity, leads to extreme weather and disproportionately affects the least advantaged around the world.
He added that to commit a crime against the natural world is a sin against ourselves and a sin against God.

I’m not interested in Dostoyevsky’s answer; I’m interested in yours.
Or, at best, misunderstood where science stood in the picture.
To say that things have never been measured hotter on earth since the thermometer was invented, is a pretty pitiful reason for panicking.
Thanks for the ping and your suggestion, but the Pope can’t excommunicate Mother Nature, because she isn’t a Catholic.
I would ask him if he believes the Germans are the master race. Man made global warming and Aryan superiority are both conclusions of politicized science.
Show where the Church teaches that you can be saved by works. What you 'know' is simply not true.
I'll be waiting for your response.
Pope Dope.
Amen!
I suppose it makes sense that since we’ve had the worst President ever we may as well have the worst Pope ever.
Why are you denying it now? That would make you a crypto Protestant.
God cannot sin.
This pope is a big idiot.
The soft bigotry of low expectations has wrought its evil work in both arenas.
ROFL! Pope Francis must be a George Soros plant.
There sure was a lot of talk about the Roman Catholic system going this way, once Francis began to talk like this. If it’s a sin then there are going to be formal confessions — it is part of how that denomination “does things.” Oh wow, what an evil racket. Tracking long term climate (over many millennia) shows a cycle of wild climate swings, mostly in cold ice ages. We’re right now looking like we are on the precipice of entering another cold ice age. Global warming from anthropogenic CO2, if anything, is going to HELP this silly earth, not hurt it, at this juncture.
The universe didn't will itself into existence; that's impossible. It's useless to speculate on impossible things.
Pope is a nut. Eventually, he will be gone.
He’s an Argentinian...don’t expect much and you won’t be disappointed.
I call him a class A BRAYING JACK AZZ. Lets all go to confession and confess we don’t recycle. Jesuits are all a little loose in the head department.
That’s one way of saying “I’m not going to answer your question”.
