Full Title: Pictures Have Surfaced Of The Real Damage Caused By Ryan Lochte. Photos have finally been released of the alleged damage caused by American hero Ryan Lochte and his teammates.

Unfortunately, it isn’t up to you to decide what to hand wave and what to gloss over. We differ. Accept it. There really isn’t anything you can say to reiterate here say “sports investigative journalism” and a myriad of other hopeful Rio Hating mania to excuse all this. WE differ. Move on.
Your opinion is noted.
Yeah. See my post at #40...you know what I mean. Of course, Tijuana is one of those places somewhat in a class of its own, like Olongapo City, etc.
You’d think the wall would fall down by removing the sign. /S
Where do you get this? When a man points a gun at you and demands money, it isn't "voluntary."
Lochte, in the end, acted badly, he deserves losing his endorsements and possibly being banned from the next games.
He acted badly? For reporting to the Brazilian police that some of their corrupt cops robbed him of $400.00? Or are you talking about pissing behind the building and pulling down an advertisement? This behavior does not even rise to the level of "jaywalking", let alone any sort of petty crime.
Brazil, has its own problems, they dont need made up ones to add to it
One of their big problems is that they have a corrupt police department who will rob people and then lie about what happened.
Brazil will always be a third world crap hole so long as they have a corrupt government.
Right. The punishment doesn’t fit the “Crime”
That he and others were threatened, robbed, extorted IS the real issue.
BTW, have al-Kaep’s sponsors fired his ass yet?
Exactly right.
One can be an honorable ambassador representing us diligently or one can be a prat out drunk on the town prat falling. Take you pick. This is someone (a millionaire, BTW) who I’ll not defend in the name of “America, F@ck Yeah”....
Yes, the USMC started banning young Marines from going into Mexico, not too long after my son’s experience there.
No doubt, but when you go out on an all night drinking binge in a place like that you are kind of asking for trouble.
No doubt, but when you go out on an all night drinking binge in a place like that you are kind of asking for trouble.
We do. I am correct, and you are incorrect.
One of us has an accurate view of the truth, and one of us has some sort of compulsion to ignore evidence to push a favored narrative.
Lochte was falsely accused by a corrupt and dishonest police department of a third world socialist hellhole, and some people are all too willing to let someone they don't like be railroaded.
I think the guy is a dick, and I think it is all overdone.
And I think being assaulted by the police at gunpoint and being robbed for THAT is stupid.
But when you are in a foreign country, your rules and norms just simply do not apply. That is why many of us who have been around the USA love this country. It isn’t perfect, but it makes sense most of the time.
I spent 8+ years in the military almost 7 of them overseas as an unprotected person subject to the whims and fancies of local authorities. I know how to act in those instances. He did not.
Which you keep asserting, but the best "lies" you have come up with, such as being "sideswiped" or failing to accurately state what time he got to the hotel after a night of being drunk, are not relevant to the main point that he was ROBBED by Brazilian Cops.
You are attributing fuzzy details as being the equivalent of "lies", and you are not even addressing the clearly provable lies that the Rio police department told.
We now know that Lochte did not "vandalize" a bathroom, that he did not even go near the bathroom, and that the Rio Police department were deliberately lying when they claimed that he did.
What is wrong with you?
I agree. And in the spirit of full disclosure, I have been embarrassingly intoxicated in a number of foreign countries.
But I was not, and neither were people I hung around with, aggressive, violent, or destructive. Nobody I knew ever wanted to even walk that line...but it didn’t stop us from getting drunk. We were generally laughing and having a good time.
So you summarily declare self-righteous unequivocal moral victory and now go home victorious.
Have you thought about the same effect and action by Rio authorities in this? Who’s the winner here?
Regardless, you’ve claimed yourself ‘winner’. Be happy in that.
Let me ask you this. Do you think four armed off duty Rio Police officers hang out at a Gas Station to provide "Security"?
The Brazilian police lied and lied and then lied some more. Why is all your bile directed at the person who exaggerated? Is it because he’s an American, and the outright lying liars are foreigners?
Btw, your obsession with hating Lochte is off the charts. Why so compulsive about it? Does he remind you of a person who wronged you years ago? Or if not, then why are you on every Lochte thread, hating him afresh?
I understand, DL, but the point is, when you are in a foreign country, it is out of your hands. Whether the people in question were police or not, or friends of the police, or people who pay money to the police for a free hand, makes no difference.
