The scene Wednesday morning in apartment number 808 of the Arroyo Villas complex was like something out of a horror movie. A man and a woman had allegedly drugged a little girl, then raped, killed and dismembered her.
Most would expect the girl’s mother to fight with everything she had to save her daughter. But Michelle Martens, according to her own reported account to police, is not that kind of mother.
In her statement to police, it appears that Martens wanted to watch as her boyfriend, Fabian Gonzales, 31, and his cousin Jessica Kelley, 31, raped her 10-year-old daughter Victoria Martens before killing her and trying to dispose of her body.
A detective detailed Martens’ account in a criminal complaint filed against Kelley, who had been hospitalized for two days after she jumped from a balcony of the northwest Albuquerque apartment trying to flee from officers. She was transferred to jail Friday morning.
In the complaint, Martens, 35, told police that she watched Gonzales and Kelley sexually assault Victoria for her own “sexual gratification” after the pair had injected the girl with methamphetamine.

Most of the time I can tune out all the horror and evil in the world but once in a while a story hits the news that I just can't shake.
This is one of those stories.

Looks like the other inmates dealt out some justice for Victoria.
Getting these pieces of filth the ISIS treatment would be too good for them..there isn’t a punishment good enough to make these sub humans pay for what they did to that child

No. This was the psychotic cousin Jessica Kelley, in a meth-induced rage, hitting Martens and "boyfriend" Fabian Garcia with an iron, presumably after stabbing Victoria Martens in the stomach while Garcia was raping and strangling her.
I can't even begin to comprehend the horror that this poor young girl was party to in the final moments of her life.

Nope. That’s from the cops. I’m not kidding. The police said the boyfriend’s cousin was still in the hospital a day after the arrest because of injuries she suffered when “resisting arrest”. Honestly, I would not be surprised to discover the police beat the pus out of all three of them when they discovered parts of the dismembered girl’s body were being burned in the bath tub!
Why read them then?
I understand these kind of stories exist, much more than we know. I don’t see any point in them at all.
Not trying to sound self-righteous or pious or anything but honestly I don’t understand the point of these stories. They are a tragedy. I understand if perhaps there is help to be given like food for flood victims, but in this case like thousands of others in the world, there is literally nothing we can do. I don’t understand the news reporting tragedy at all. Surely people who are victims families know, beyond that, I don’t get the point of knowing, unless people need help.

Preferably after they've sobered up, worked all the meth out of their systems, had a little time to contemplate the decisions they have made in their lives and will be able to fully appreciate the violence that is about to be delivered upon them.
Sadly, law enforcement has already announced that they are being segregated in custody for their own safety.
The death penalty would be a kind gesture to these animals.
A car accident is a tragedy. A tornado is a tragedy. A kid with cancer is a tragedy.
This is meth. That we tolerate this drug in our communities is a collective failure that we are a part of.
We own this.
That’s the way I see it. I read this story yesterday and I am so disturbed by it that I am distracted and depressed. I can’t do anything. I know evil is out there. What?

The electric chair is too nice for these devils. They should be dismembered while tied to a board upside down and then stabbed in each eye.

You mean people as a whole? I’m failing to see how their actions are somehow my responsibility.
I’d make sure a few dull boxcutters and a propane torch got accidentally left put where the other inmates could find them

We live in a society that no longer judges people, no longer holds people accountable. No longer punishes people. No longer drives, with torches and pitchforks, this evil from our neighborhoods. We allow this scourge to exist in the shadows of our communities, whether it's Albuquerque or NE Florida, where I live. I see it here too. I turn a blind eye as well.
This girl was failed by people who chose not to see the circumstances of her life.
Things must change.
