A corruption of St. Anthony of Padua, patron saint of lost articles including many of my own precious marbles. Heard the pronunciation on Cheers (Carla Tortelli nee Rhea Perlman), and it stuck with me. So devoted am I to my favorite saint that I’ve written (but not published) a novel of him, where he is portrayed with a lovely sense of humor and innocence but is bedeviled by many of the other saints and angels. My portrayal of him in no way represents the documented history. Rather, it is my ideal of a divine sense of humor that is slightly wicked.

Good evening, Mayor, and thank you for today’s sustenance for body and soul.
We made it through Wednesday. If we stand on tip toe we can almost see the weekend.

I joined the Freep in 1997, I believe. At the time, The Simpson’s was a popular show and I liked Boss Burns when he’d release the hounds on any bad guys. The Clintons were the bad guys and I loved the image of hungry hounds in pursuit.

My son started martial arts at the age of 5 in a Korean art named Tang Soo Do, similar to Tai Kwon Do. He stuck with it until he received his 2nd degree black belt. I particiapated with him for about 3 years until a bad fall cracked my shoulder and neck (still hurts after 15 years). The phrase, "Tang Soo" was used at our school as a form of greeting, so my handle is a way of saying, "Hello".
By the way, our federation was run by C.S. Kim in Monroeville Pa - just east of Pittsburgh. C.S. Kim was the All-Asia champion twice during the 1960s and was Chuck Norris' first instructor when he was stationed in S. Korea while in the Air Force.

I only named one of my cars; a big old 1977 Mercury Marquis that had been my dad’s. Big and armored like a battleship. So I called it “The Bismarck.”

Anyone remember CB radios? Yarddog was my handle.
Mine was spitfire, but then I progressed on into Ham Radio. That was so much more fun.

I volunteered for the Air Force in 1968. After they tested me they said they would train me as a jet-engine mechanic. I went through the pyschical ant they pulled me aside and said - no go, heart murmur.
I appealed at the Boston Navy Hospital. No go.
So I drove my motorcycle to Los Angeles, met a lot girls then San Francisco and met different kinds of girls. Went back to LA then left after a year.
After that, I was an A student until I graduated.
I hated when some hippie said I was another draft dodger.
