Tornado near speedway
I’m a little bit crazy. Emotionally, I sometimes see historical events as if they were just happening today, and sometimes I see things happening right now through the eyes of an historian.
My perception of the world I live in today is kinda like that of the Bruce Willis character while visiting the past in “12 Monkeys”. It’s as though I am visiting a past that was.
It really causes me to appreciate everything around me.
Prayers for Indy and the other areas impacted by this tornado!!!!!!
Thank you for the updates - but please stay safe!
bump!
Indy fire Scanner has powerline down reports moving east along the 30th street to 56th street areas.
Indy too.
Thanks..
I’ll stay up as long as the power does, but it looks like cascading failures coming my way.
Just checked with the Storm Prediction Center website; this is not a PDS watch—that terminology is typically used with tornado watches versus warnings, and only about five percent of the watches issued annually receive the PDS designation. In layman’s terms, it means a high probability of dangerous, long-track tornadoes; residents in the watch area are well-advised to start preparing and keep an eye on the sky. In some states (Alabama for example), schools often dismiss early when a PDS watch is issued. You don’t want kids trapped in a school or on a bus when violent tornadoes are dropping from the sky.
Having said all that, “tornado emergency” is also a term that is reserved only for the most dangerous situations. Don’t see is used very often and when it is, folks in the affected area need to take shelter immediately—as opposed to running outside with a cell phone to start photographing the storm. In the very near future, we’re going to see some video with the final frames showing a large piece of debris coming straight for the camera.
Prayers up for the folks in Kokomo.
More Kokomo photos and a video of the Starbucks collapse

Said it must have lifted before it got to her but she had crazy mixed up weather for about 15 minutes. She’s ok.
But the Starbucks & housing addition across the street have severe damage.
From that graphic it looks like Indianapolis is getting hit harder than Kokomo.
Ham Net:
Rotation spotted moving across north Indianapolis.
Indy EMS scanners still down.
Nasty, nasty stuff.
We get several of these each year in NE Oklahoma/NW Arkansas, usually in spring and in summer. Some scary ones do pop up at other times. They can make for a few tense moments as cells pass through.
Stay safe.
Sirens going off again here.

Tornado ON THE GROUND in Metro Indy at 21st and Ritter!
Wow! That is a big one! Prayers! I have family in Fort Wayne, no warnings for Allen County yet any way.
