A long-running mass inner tube event in Michigan ended unexpectedly Sunday with a trip to Canada, with so many Americans blown across the maritime border by wind that Canadian officials had to set up a temporary screening area for the inadvertent immigrants.
"There were Americans everywhere," Peter Garapick, a superintendent of search and rescue for the Canadian Coast Guard, speaking to the CBC. "There was no chance for anything floating or people on inner tubes to go anywhere but Canada."
The total cost to the Ontario municipality of Sarnia came to $8,000, including nineteen bus trips carrying the U.S. citizens back across the Bluewater Bridge to American soil.

Hmm, the Canadians deported them immediately. There is a lesson there somewhere.
Now if these were Mexicans, they would have let them in and gave them free healthcare.
Who’d risk accidentally going into that commie country?
Missed opportunity for Canada. They definitely could have held them for a month and gotten at least $ one and-a-half billion in ransom from Obozo. /s

When is comes right down to it, Canadians are also Americans. (Along with Mexicans, Panamanians, Peruvians, etc.)
If Hillary wins look for this to become a regular thing.
Yes, North or South Americans. but the only country in the Americas that has America in its name is the USA.
Years ago, I was in a boat along the St. Lawrence and we went over the border for a few minutes. (I wonder if we were being watched?) I loved it!! My roots are Canadian and I had my first year of school in Montreal, so I have fond thoughts of Canada.
the jokes write themselves
I used to sail my 36 foot Islander out of Sandusky. Crossed into Canadian waters many times. No problems!
Maybe the issue here is that these homemade rafts were not steerable, unlike your boat. To just tell them to sail back home from Canada was not possible.
Gee, just think of that = “undocumented visitors” to Canada.
They’re called “tourists” where I come from.
In the old days all you needed was a American driver’s license.
Where did they get the inner tube station? We used to do this when I was a kid but tubes are not so easy to get after the tubeless tires invention.
Now Ted Cruz has a way to get back

I would cordially like to point out the risk of straying into Canada. A friendly greeting to ascertain it was an honest mistake. A journey back safely.
No harsh drawn out negotiations with ill treatment and stinking hell hole prisons. No demands for huge sums of money. No agony for the folks back home. You will excuse me for sounding off I hope. A bit preachy I admit.
Americans just as decent at my border opposite the famous Sault Locks. They have clamped down on jokers trying to smuggle in Chinese nationals though. (Chuckle).
Right on!
It has a long way to go before it would be considered a commie country but with the socialist Prime Minister Canada has, it is headed in that direction.
Oh, that was YOU driving that land yacht into the Great White North!
I was in my early 20s and learned that lesson well while working in South America. If you want to really make your hosts indignant and upset, just announce “I am an American.” They’ll really flip out. So what you said is VERY true.
