A Florida man is upset after his niece brought home a Pledge of Allegiance waiver that asked parents to sign and return the form if theyd like their child to be excused from reciting it.
It read:
I understand my rights as a parent and I request that my child, noted above, be excused from reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. This request includes standing and placing his/her right hand over his/her heart.
In frustration, Micah Brienen took to Facebook last Thursday.
My niece brought this home from school today What is happening to our country?!? he said in the post.
Brienens sister-in-law returned the form with her daughter, writing the following in response:
This is the dumbest thing I have ever read and I am so ashamed of this.
The post has been shared more than 13,400 times.
Several days later, Brienen followed up his initial post with one asking his friends to contact the schools superintendent about the issue and letting them know that he is up for reelection.

When I was a kid, I would always leave off the “indivisible”, as I did not think it was accurate. I doubt anyone ever noticed.
Whose flag should the kids be saluting? The ISIS flag? The Mexican flag? The Cuban flag? Or should they be taught to be ashamed of their country? Odungo strikes again! And SHAME on the school admin primates for going along with this, slavering to please their political masters.
It's gone into the crapper.
“Funny Thing,” The Leon County Schools website is “down.” You folks in Leon County, FL need to vote this a$$hole out of office. ( But I’m betting you won’t)
Did I miss it? is the uncle his niece’s guardian?
Did they also bring home one to be excused from transgender indoctrination? I did not think so. (Guessing at your answer here.)
Never mind. I reread it.
Jehovah's witnesses pushed this issue on biblical grounds in the 1960's. In their interpretation of scripture, Christ forbids the taking of oaths, which they claim The Pledge to be. Several kids sat down through the pledge in my grade school as far back as 1961.
While Snopes was busy covering for their god not “banning the Pledge of Allegiance”....
They’ve also done their usual of changing a few words in what’s actually happening to “debunk” this one for the feeble-minded:

Remember, Oturdturd said he was a uniter.
Does the school pass out the same note for the kids to be excused from mandatory diversity training? Or deviant sex education class? Or “Gay is OK” class? Or participating in community organizer activities? Or being forced to watch Al Gore’s Global Warming BS movies?
I’ve read that a couple of times and still don’t understand what he’s upset about. If he wants her to say the pledge, just don’t sign and return the waiver.
That’ll be the next thing. No flags on government or school properties. Then no National Anthem.
Then no payer.
Then we’re done.
Already no payer....meant prayer.
What he is upset about, FRiend, is the destruction of our Nation and the gutting of our deeply-held values; values that once lost will never be regained in our lifetimes.
I am not confused as to what he is upset about.
You should not be confused either!
How could you not be upset? All children, teachers, administrators, cleaning and kitchen staff should be saying the pledge including the words “under God”. Why would any School District or government entity make this an issue or choice?
Many Americans don’t realize what’s going on until it’s right in front of their faces. Trump needs to reach these low information voters. He did have the appropriate response though.
He's upset that in US Schools, people are being given a choice about whether or not they will affirm allegiance to the nation to which they belong.
He is of the opinion that there should be no choice. You *WILL* affirm allegiance to the nation to which you belong.
And I agree with him.
