Ryan Lochte says he's "taking full responsibility" for an incident in Brazil that has embroiled the American swimmer and three of his Olympics teammates.
In an interview with NBC's Matt Lauer that aired Saturday, Lochte cites his own "immature behavior" for turning an incident involving unruly actions by the four swimmers into an international incident that led to two swimmers being pulled off their initial flight out of Rio and another paying nearly $11,000 to the Olympics' host nation.
"That's why I'm taking full responsibility for it, because I overexaggerated that story," Lochte told NBC. "If I'd never done that, we wouldn't be in this mess. Those guys would never be in Rio, or were in Rio. None of this would have happened. It was my immature behavior."

He not have lost as many endorsements as he’s going to if he hadn’t lied about it.
toast...
Interesting to see if any of those who insisted he got robbed (even after he recanted) show up and continue to defend him. Nah, I doubt it.
One Drunken Night On The Town - $1,000,000 in lost endorsements.
Yes he is.
He’s a 32 year old immature teenager.
I forgot, “spoiled by a very permissive mother”.
Easily a $1,000,000 night. Maybe more.
The whole things is small potatoes. Lochte is one of the best swimmers from America and he got mixed up with the police at a gas station in Brazil. The fact that Lochte is headlining Daily Mail and ESPN shows that the Olympics really are an empty show. Lost endorsements? Who cares. Lochte will hush the crowd at every pool for the rest of his life.
If Lochte speaks, well, that is a different story. Everyone grimaces when he speaks. He lacks a full set of vocabulary words.
You could peruse those threads and hunt them down if it bothers you that much.
i have a beer with my name on it. That takes precedence :)
An eponymous beer. The best kind.
Why bother? They were only knee-jerk reactions. Although I admit my favorite was about Latin American “machismo.”
Everything I need to know about Rio I learned from this video.

Yeah, well . . . I like to travel. I don’t make my arrangements based upon YouTube videos.
How this young man deals with his situation will determine his future....and I am not referring to endorsements.
If something is exaggerated, that means it isn’t true by a lot.
If something is OVER-exaggerated, does that mean it has enter the “HilLiary Zone”
“We control the vertical. We control the horizontal. You are entering the HilLiary Zone!”
I forgive him. My gosh this story never should have gotten as big as it did.
