Time for a Ted Cruz reboot, as poll shows Republicans down on him since his snub of Trump
The Dallas Morning News ^ | August 19, 2016 | Todd J. Gillman

Ted Cruz's image among Republicans had plummeted to a personal low by the Indiana primary — the defeat that forced him from the GOP presidential contest.

But he may wish for those heady days of May now...

Potential GOP rivals are probing for weakness ahead of Cruz's bid for a second term in 2018. That includes House Homeland Security Chairman Michael McCaul of Austin. The former federal prosecutor is the second wealthiest member of the U.S. House, with access to a family fortune topping $100 million, though he has no obvious base of support to overcome the tea partyers still plenty in thrall of Cruz.

Dryly assessing Cruz's tenure in the Senate, McCaul said Wednesday that he'd "spent a lot of time running for president..."

For 14 months, Cruz spent precious little time in Texas as he stoked the flames of his White House ambitions.

Sorry about that, not worried about 2018 but only right now. Trump has to win or 2018 and the future is going to suck for all conservatives. I don’t think I can listen to that winch for 4 years.

“If the Hidabeast wins I think I will turn all media off and watch the Walking Dead around the clock and start dreaming of that world....:)”

That’s what I did after Americans were stupid / greedy enough to elect Obama AGAIN. No TV. No internet news. No Free Republic. Didn’t even glance at the newspaper headlines in the grocery store. NOTHING. The hardest thing was telling people to STFU who insisted that, somehow, it was “important” for me to know what was going on. I’ll surely do that again if the Witch wins, only this time it will be for good because we will NEVER have a chance to overthrow the establishment again. They didn’t see it coming and didn’t prepare - you can bet, if Trump loses, that no one like him will EVER be “allowed” to run for office again.

When a man can enunciate every conservative principle that our side supposedly supports and denounce the liberal records of both Obama and Clinton but is rejected simply for calling for independent thought instead of kissing the ring of a party leader, then our cause is lost. When we put a person or a party above our principles, the elites have us right where they want us, in a place where we can be easily led like sheep to the slaughter.

There’s nothing we need more than principled politicians who will keep a President who has a more inconsistent record on the issues in check.

Personally I resent the 'red' for right and 'blue' for liberal

Yep I remember when they did it. Except I don't really remember when they did it. I just remember watching the night the MSM switched them. Such is the joy of the Golden years.

You said about Cruz that “Only Jesus keeping his life and marriage together,” as though relying on Jesus is a bad thing. It’s clear from your comment that you think less of those who fully rely on Christ, or that we should expect to just get along fine without Jesus’ help.

Clear, huh ?

On August 21, 1981, after making a thorough mess of my life, I asked Jesus to come into my life and be my savior.

It was at Eddy Klein's kitchen table, at about 7:30 PM when I prayed a simple prayer (I don't remember the exact words) that saved my life.

(Synopsizing GREATLY, here)

Having been raised a Catholic, I was surprised to feel like I wanted to be baptized, but yep ... there it was.

So I called a Baptist church out of the phone book.

VERY long story short ... I went to that Baptist church the next week, was baptized .... and for next 35 years, I have been under His wing, and the preaching of His word and He has been the only reason I sometimes don't tear into another FReeper's arrogant religious statements as if they know what they're talking about.

Jesus sometimes IS the only glue in ALL of our lives .... YOU'RES too.

Then why did you say of Cruz that “Only Jesus keeping his life and marriage together,” as though relying on Jesus is a bad thing? Was that meant to be some kind of insult, or a kind affirmation of the faith he shares with you in Christ?

YOU'RE the one injecting the "bad thing" in a simple statement.

Why do you see a bad thing when one was not present ?

Again, you wrote about Ted Cruz that “Only Jesus keeping his life and marriage together.”

My assumption was that you meant that as an insult, that his life was a mess and that it would fall apart if it weren’t for divine intervention. I interpreted your comment as an insult, since FR has become a hate-Cruz zone.

I apologize for assuming you were trashing Cruz. I appreciate that you care for Ted Cruz enough to affirm his faith in Jesus, that you are affirming that his keeping Jesus central in his life is a good thing.
