Republicans' views of Texas Sen. Ted Cruz have gotten significantly worse since he refused to endorse Donald Trump at the Republican National Convention, with his favorable rating falling from 59% to 43%. Now more Republicans have an unfavorable opinion of Cruz than a favorable one, reverting to the pattern seen when he suspended his presidential campaign in early May. His image had recovered in the months leading up to the convention.

I still like Cruz.
Well, theres bound to be a handful of you guys still on here........
Yep but much more than a handful. Been here for 16 years.
He’s a carpetbagging opportunist.
Boner and McConnell cackle with glee!
I agree -— this was my hope, too. Trump had the name recognition to get elected, and Cruz would have been his Constitutional compass as VP. Put the Trump folks and the Cruz folks together, and we could have sailed to victory by so big a landslide that even Nancy Pelosi would have retired from Congress. That would have given Cruz the time for the people in general to get to know him so he would be very electable after Trump. Instead, he threw it all away on pique, spite, egomania, or whatever. I am truly disappointed, but Cruz bet the farm and lost. All water under the bridge now.
I like your take.
Surprise Surprise Surprise!
I was an early Cruz supporter. He lost me when he attacked Trump instead of the rioters in Chicago at the Trump rally.
Even so, I always expected he would do the honorable thing at the convention. I am ashamed that I was such a poor judge of character.
I’ve now thrown in with Trump. I have no way of being sure, but I pray he will honor all the promises he has made during this campaign. Otherwise, this will be the last time I vote.
Stop by his Senate page and tell him what a jerk he is. I did. I don’t think he is aware how obnoxious he is.
To supposedly be such a smart person, he sure made a lot of dumb mistakes, starting in Iowa when Beck joined him. He/his campaign seemed to fumble from that point on.
He certainly showed that he does not have much of an acumen for politics.
Judging character is never easy but we don’t know everything that happened either.
I’m with you in supporting Trump but more from the sidelines. As I see it, Trump’s speeches this week are a huge improvement so that helps.
The myth Cruz was a conservative has died.
I sure was fooled by the guy.
When Sarah Palin's "Meet Ted Cruz" introduction email arrived, just in time for me to help save the Republic by supporting newbie Cruz for Senate, I sent cash to Cruz and prayers to Heaven.
Funny how time has a way of clarifying one's emotions.
Fast forward to 2016 and now it's prayers for Cruz and my thanks to Heaven that he failed.
Assuming that Ted is more genuine in his conservatism than with his con, I want to hate him, but I mostly just feel pity for him for him letting his ego piss away all that he'd been given.
I guess he sorta reminds me of a younger me in that regard, so I'm not going to be too harsh.
Regret in the rear view mirror is a nasty backseat driver, but a very effective teacher for the willing and open student, should Ted want to be tutored.
Months ago, I had a FB friend tell me we were being deceived by Trump and we had to vote for Cruz. I noticed she is on the Trump train now. Bless her heart, she finally saw the light.
Finally! All is right with the world.
Soreloserman.
“Hes a carpetbagging opportunist.”
Well, he saw that it’s always worked for Hillary! so he thought he’d give it a try. ;)
“I still like Cruz.”
Bless your heart.
and Cruz would have been his Constitutional compass as VP.

How could that be the case when he in Constitutionally ineligible?
“The myth Cruz was a conservative has died.”
I wish. There are some who still buy into that snake oil.
And he could have too, because he does hold on like a Rottweiler to most core Republic principles, and he is fearless in the face of massive opposition in the Senate. Unfortunately these very virtues were transformed into vices by his own inordinate quest for the nomination by less than honorable means. A damn shame because otherwise he might have been a real asset to the Trump administration.
