The biggest threat to Obamacare should have been the Constitution. Ignoring that the biggest threat now is the fact that insurance companies are dealing with not being able to draw out of the general fund to cover the treatment for all of the previously uninsured individuals who are racking up huge medical bills.

If it is constitutional to force people to buy a product, it must be constitutional to force companies to offer the product. Just call it a tax.

the companies say they haven’t been able to enroll enough young and healthy people to offset the high cost of covering sick people.

If Jerry Brown truly cared about Obamacare he could issue an Executive Order TOMORROW mandating that ALL PUBLIC EMPLOYEES Enroll in and Purchase their own Personal and Family Health Insurance from the Affordable Care Act Exchange.

He can call it the PEACE Act
The Public Employee Affordable Care Enrollment Act

This would save Hundreds of Millions of TAXPAYER DOLLARS, SAVE OBAMACARE with the New Influx of High Paying Customers.

Sounds like a WIN WIN to me

The Democrats have had no use for the Constitution since the FDR era. Even before then so-called “progressives” didn’t want to live under the Constitution but wanted a government empowered to do whatever political fashion, presumed to be “progressive”, would want of government.

There to no such thing as “no” with progressives.

Neither is there a limit to what progressivism may be deemed to be as the term itself is now fluid, pretty much nothing more than whatever so-called “progressives” want. If they want to murder babies on demand or celebrate perversion or sexual confusion then that’s “progressivism”. When they will finally want to kill Christians or watch people who to not take some mark (to let them buy or sell) loose everything and even starve THAT will be “progressivism”. If Islamists somehow claim the mantle many “progressives” will blindly and slavishly follow that too.

In the end all their “progress” will be is not being what we have been. Change in the name of change and called progress. The only things it will never be is actually Christian...

I don’t get it. Why are they even bothering to call it insurance? What if life insurance operated like this? My heirs can buy a million $ policy after I’m gone! And, frankly, why stop at a million $ policy? They’d bankrupt the “insurer” in one transaction!

http://nypost.com/2014/01/27/obamacares-insurance-company-bailout/

“...John Q Public is about to get clobbered again, thanks to a taxpayer bailout of the insurers written into the ObamaCare law.

Section 1342 of the Affordable Care Act forces taxpayers to make insurers whole for most of the losses they incur selling policies on the ObamaCare exchanges through 2016. The bailout is meant to hide the full failure of the president’s signature health law until after the next presidential election.”

“... insurers who opt not to participate in the exchanges can’t get bailouts and don’t get subsidies for their customers, so you won’t have the option of buying from them for long.”

Think about it. If the federal government gave out subsidies to buy only Ford cars and told Ford Motor Co. not to worry about pricing the car, because taxpayers would make up Ford’s losses, how long do you think Chrysler and Toyota could compete?

“...As any business owner will tell you, a temporary bailout is no substitute for the rule of law. The bailout keeps ObamaCare on life support, at taxpayers’ expense, while the free market expires and the rule of law disappears.”

Obamacare was always just a stepping stone to single-payer, AKA government monopoly.

This is all according to plan.

Obamacare sucks.

The thing is, so did what we had.

Do not go back to the expensive, spotty, lousy coverage we had before.

What we need is good insurance, for everyone. Reasonably priced, with no removals for conditions.

THAT is what we need. For everyone.

Much of the rest of the world has a good system. Ours sucks now, and it sucked before. Dems are no good at providing coverage for everyone, but Republicans are no better.

We need insurance for everyone.

Everyone.

The chronically ill and those with pre-existing deadly conditions should be very afraid of Obamacare insurance. It is designed to kill them.

Why are they even bothering to call it insurance?

It's an old trick that worked for Social Security, which used to be known as Old Age and Survivors Insurance.

This should be one of Donald's main focuses...ObamaCare is still very unpopular.”Hillary, there's irrefutable proof that ObamaCare,in addition to being passed because of the stupidity of the American people, was designed to fail from the very beginning”.

The problem with ‘Government’ funded healthcare is the Government will decide who will care and how much care they will get. That was another lie that should have made Obama’s nose grow at least a foot. You are required to go to the ‘surgery’ (clinic) in your neighborhood. You cannot choose your doctor. If you need a specialist, your primary care physician must refer you...you cannot just go to a specialist. The number of referrals each month is limited and, if your primary care physician goes over his allotted number, he will get fined. AND there are still procedures that are out of pocket, IF they allow you to get them and pay for them yourself. There are few dentists in the UK, so good luck getting ANY appointment with a dentist. Nursing home care is not covered for the elderly.....you are on your own if your family cannot care for you. And the nursing homes in the UK are 25% more expensive than here. The list of parameters on Socialized Medicine is long.....these are just a few of the surprises in store for Americans who THINK they will get all the healthcare they need.

Nope.

I am firmly a FReeper. Been here since 2005 (changed name recently) and I am NOT going to du.

But we need to fix our healthcare system.

It is an overly expensive, national embarrassment.

A free market will reflect what people are willing and able to pay for such services.

The most perfect solution.

We do not have a free market, because the government is (heavily) involved in providing healthcare, by massive regulations on who can teach what, on who can provide what services, and most importantly on who cannot provide services.

Massive government interference.

As long as the government is manipulating the market, then we need to provide everyone some coverage option.

If you get government out of healthcare, get government out of healthcare.

Out.
