Senator Cruz stunned conservatives when he refused to endorse Donald Trump at the RNC Convention in Cleveland. This came after Cruz was thumped in the GOP primary race. Perry leads Cruz in a senate primary matchup 46% to 37%.
The Texas Tribune reported:
A new poll suggests there is at least one fellow Republican who could unseat U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz in 2018: Rick Perry.
The former Texas governor would beat Cruz by 9 percentage points, according to the forthcoming survey from the Democratic-leaning firm Public Policy Polling. Set to be released later today, the poll found Perry would get 46 percent of the vote and Cruz 37 percent, with 18 percent saying they are not sure whom they would support.

Cruz to the bottom.
Not good.
I don’t know what to think. Cruz made an @$$ out of himself at the GOP Convention by refusing to endorse Trump but Rick Perry is Bushie soft on illegal immigration. One needs to look at the big picture here.
Maybe Ted will run for reelection as a left wing Rat. He seems to be obsessed with helping them this time around.
why is this not good?
calculated move. that’s why he backed Trump on the Kazr issue. He knew he could get the Trumpers to jack his numbers up..
This isn’t happening now. Cruz holds his seat for 2 more years.
Cruz committed political suicide. Disappointed, but there it is.
Since this is all speculative for 2018, it does not seem to be worth much.
I don’t know about ANYBODY else but I think this IS GREAT!!! At least Perry WILL work with Trump instead of against him!!!
Perry is a worthless idiot, but I’d still vote for him over Cruz.
I think it’ great. Anyone who thinks it isn’t needs a cruz vaccine or frontal lobotomy
He was a decent Governor, nothing super great, but not a complete disaster like Ma Richards, but there is NO difference between Rick and Dewhurst. He is a member of good standing in the good old boys club, and that is a cause of concern.
Are you kidding me? I would love to see Rick back in politics, and he was straight up with Trump after Trump called him “4 eyes.”
I will bet a $1000 Perry wins.
I’d love to see Trump fly down there and endorse him...
Yup, speaking as a former Cruz supporter, I now despise the worthless ahole!
Better Perry than Cruz.
I’ve never thought well of Perry. I don’t think he is very smart and his support for the private (foreign) combined road/rail link through Texas didn’t have a good smell.
Cruz has damaged himself but he is a true conservative.
Wait a minute. Election would be in 2018?
Maybe Ted should announce his 2020 VP pick now to get ahead of the curve.
That’s we he dealt with hillary and obama after his loss.
he’s a piece of ####.
