Over the last 30 years or so, one aspect of presidential elections has been pretty consistent. The GOP nominee usually doesnt have to break a sweat to carry the southern states. From 1980 through 2004, with two notable exceptions Jimmy Carters home state of Georgia in 1980 and a few states during southern-boy Bill Clintons two runs Republicans enjoyed complete dominance in the swath of states from Virginia to Texas
That may be changing. This years battle between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton is unusual to say the least. Not in my lifetime have two candidates with unfavorables as high as these contested the White House. Its been well-documented how disliked the pair of nominees are. Unfortunately for conservatives like me, it appears, at least for the time being, that Trump is the more disliked of the two. And were seeing one affect of his dismal likeability in recent polling data.

I don’t think there’s any question that suburban Atlanta has been moving in the wrong direction.
But the rats can’t win GA (is that what we’re talking about? TX LA AL MS SC ect certainly aren’t in play) without hyper Black vote. Unfortnualty despite fantasies to the contrary, Trump is polling worse among Blacks than Romney, possibly in 4th behind Stein.
But it’s still questionable they will turn out for some old White B, even with all the BLM pyschocis. I think polls showing GA in bad shape overestimate Black turnout.
“25 New Yorkers a day are moving to NC, and have been doing so for twenty years... “
...and changing NC to blue.
IMHO
” the 1964 election featuring the most corrupt candidate of all times LBJ “
I second that.
After 57 years I left Fun City in '02 and NEVER gave the Carolinas or VA a thought...too many New Yorkers.
“”25 New Yorkers a day are moving to NC”
And the same coming from NJ and MD.
His aggressive style affects his polling numbers.
His style has a negative effect on his polling numbers.
Sometimes I think the sooner we sort this all out (and it will be ugly, no doubt) the better.
You’re watching what happens when people move from New York or New Jersey or Massachusetts to southern states. Get used to it.
That’s what I thought, but I’ve been out of
school for a long time.
Journalism today, meh.

Any one who likes Hillary Clinton would LOVE Satan. As yet this phony claims the mantle of "conservative"??
Seems Elliot has found a kindred spirit in the phony and lying Hillary and "conservative" Paul Ryan.
This is true, but with a disclaimer; The DNA of the South as conservative and independent by and large isn't changing.
Polls that have Hillary ahead are NOT indicative of the actual majority sentiment in NC, VA, or GA.
Agree. it is absolutely horrible here. nobody should move here, they should all stay away and leave us to our misery! ;)
It's too late, WD. Sterile Snowflake DNA sitting at Starbucks' tables will not cooperate. Not only that, as narcissists at age 32, they dream not of raising a family in their early 30s, but of the newest X-Box Game.
Back in 2002, Paddy Buchanan had predicted the day would occur soon enough when the destiny of Third World demos would run down Europe, then America ('The Death of the West: How Dying Populations and Immigrant Invasions Imperil Our Country and Civilization'). But he couldn't have predicted the acceleration of Muzzie/Third World invaders to Europe, or our own border sieve that's allowed and encouraged Mexican, Latin American, and now a Middle East invasion.
For NOW, our national salvation -- albeit, temporary -- lies with a Trump victory. If we're optimistic, we can buy 10-12 years of "America Re-Born." Perhaps provincial conservative territories like the ones you've mentioned can hold the culturally-American fort. Realistically, all bets are off on a national scale.
And IF God forbid Hillary wins, prepare for a hastened Mad Max world.
Of course you're right. Should have been sorted out 10-15 years ago. But who wanted to risk an empty fridge of beer, no Sunday NFL game, and warm bed? Like frogs, it's man's nature to remain in the boiling pot until it's too late. If Hillary wins, we might assume things will become sorted out one way or another.
In times like these one really wonders how America's history and culture would have changed had Lincoln only succumbed to the wishes of an independent Confederacy before CW even started. OR in the alternative, a Confederate victory. Or projected updated map that reflects respective "conservative" and "progressive" territorial sovereignty.
If Trump loses we need another country. If Hillary wins you will see the biggest migration in the history of the world. Every 3rd worlder will be on the way and Hillary will open the doors wide open.
Succession would be the only option.
As “Brother Dave” Gardner used to ask,”Did you ever hear of anybody retirin’ to the North?” The worst part is the ones who move South and then run their mouths about how much better everything was up North, it must be some unnamed form of insanity. Show me one person who ever spent his whole working lifetime in the Carolinas and then wanted to retire up North.
If the “furriners” keep swarming South Carolina I may seek permission to move to Alabama. You will know me by this song I’ll be singing, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Rku2HjUFqU
