Donald Trump isn't a 'baby Christian'
Santa Cruz Sentinel ^ | 08/16/2016 | Sally Vance-Trembath

The late, great Father Ted Hesburgh used to tell incoming students, "Come to Notre Dame and lose your faith." Many would be confused by that line, given that Notre Dame is a Catholic university, but the point Father Ted was making was that faith is more than a list of ideas or concepts and that it needs to be challenged by rigorous thinking and translated into action. All talk and no action does not make for a faithful Christian, and that's why Donald Trump's condescending words to an evangelical audience in Orlando took my breath away.

But pro abortion Democrats are Christian?

No, but dems are experts at having it both ways. Like slavery for another example.

If he’s not a Christian, then where does that leave Hillary?

Father Ted [spit] was denying the action of the Holy Ghost.

First of all Trump is not a Catholic, he’s a Presbyterian. He’s a baptized Christian who was taken to church in his youth by his Christian parents. As an adult Trump is a professed Christian who still attends church. He displays Christian charity as much or more than the average American who identifies as a christian.

Trying to label Donald Trump as a baby christian was ridiculous and demeaning. There is no such thing as a baby christian. Either you are or you aren’t. I’m sick of these self righteousness self appointed “super Christians” trying to pass judgment on the rest of us.

He sounds like a nasty character.

If he actually said, "Come to Notre Dame and lose your faith.", I'd have to give him credit for being an honest, nasty character, at least about that.

Check out any major university and you'll find ^that^ is the official, but unspoken, Mission Statement of our modern educational system.

Pius IX spoke of "a revolution during which the Church will undergo ordeals which are beyond description."

I wonder if "beyond description" refers to how the meanings in the Father's OEM Dictionary of Truth have been fundamentally changed making description impossible, along with pretty much everything else, too.

If you can change the meaning of meaning, eventually you might even see an impeached POTUS arguing his innocence before Congress based on what the meaning of "is" is.

Babble on, Garth...

...Beam me up, Scotty.

Cardinal Josef Ratzinger (later Pope Benedict XVI) said it clearly while doctrinal chief for the Vatican: “In those situations where homosexual unions have been legally recognized or have been given the legal status and rights belonging to marriage, clear and emphatic opposition is a duty. One must refrain from any kind of formal cooperation in the enactment or application of such gravely unjust laws and, as far as possible, from material cooperation on the level of their application. In this area, everyone can exercise the right to conscientious objection.”

But Notre Dame chose not to exercise that right. Five months later, Notre Dame has done nothing to assert its Catholic identity over an unjust law, whether real or perceived.

Jesus isn’t on the ballot this time. If she thinks that her second choice “Hillary” is a better reflection of Jesus than The Donald, she is truly ignorant and pathetic.

And she knows nothing about being a real follower of Christ since she thinks it is based on tradition and institutions.

Uh oh, now you've gone and stirred up the Catholics and Mormons.

“The term “baby Christian” is just plain silly. And I say that standing in the Catholic Church, where the tradition of infant baptism is ancient.”

"Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good" (1 Peter 2:2-3). Milk is used in the New Testament as a symbol of what is basic to the Christian life.

But as a baby grows, its diet changes to also include solid foods. With this in mind, read how the writer of Hebrews admonished the Christians: “In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God's word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil" (Hebrews 5:12-14). Paul saw the same problem with the Corinthian believers; they had not grown in their faith, and he could only give them "milk" because they were not ready for solid food (1 Corinthians 3:1-3).

She knows nothing about being a real follower of Christ since she thinks it is based on tradition and institutions.

Does she even own a bible ? Sure looks like she has never bothered to read it.

Why read the Bible when she can take oaths? Sally Vance (Hyphen) Trembath's NAME alone tells us something more about her. A Jesuit to boot.

Here are this "lecturer" and counterfeit Christian's publications:

October 2006: "Theologies in Dialogue: The Place of Religion in the 21st Century University," Consensus: A Canadian Lutheran Journal of Theology October, 2006.

September 2006: articles on canonization and Catholicism in The Encyclopedia of Religion, Communication and Media, Daniel A. Stout, Ed. New York, Routledge, 2006.

Spring 2004: article entitled, "Pope John XXIII" in The Encyclopedia of Leadership. Edited by Catherine Cookson. New York: Routledge, 2004.

Fall 2004: "Jesuit Education and Citizenship" in Connections, September Volume.

Fall 2003: article entitled, "Vatican II," in The Encyclopedia of Religious Freedom, Edited by Catherine Cookson. New York: Routledge, 2003.

Spring 1999: "John Paul II's Ut Unum Sint and the Conversation with Women" in Theological Studies 60 (1999).

AS intended. Hear ya.

I’m sick of these self righteousness self appointed “super Christians” trying to pass judgment on the rest of us.

But...but...According to Vatican II, it is confirmed that Trump and the rest of you Protestants are infidels, ergo NOT going to Heaven because you don't worship a man-made vow to the RCC, the Pope and Mary.

"Jesus"?? Meh /sarc

No confusion any longer. God is now a minor player at Notre Dame.

And FWIW, mighty presumptuous words of the the "great" Father Hesburgh for the incoming. Was he running a boot camp for those who might have believed in "Salvation through Grace" or something crazy like that?

She needs an education.

A man whose “talk” is actually lying and whose “actions” often involve stealing from others, whether by fraud or outright theft, cannot claim Christian values as his own.

Of course the judgemental author offers no examples...This article is nothing more than another Trump trash piece...

[[Jesuit Education and Citizenship]]

Yep
It’s one of our biggest problems .
They have infiltrated their way into all of our schools , media , and government.
Everything good they destroy and turn into a legalistic mess they then leach off until they suck it dry.

Nothing Christian about them.

Agree with your assessment 100%.

This satanic cult even co-opted Jesus' name in order to deflect scrutiny.

She isn’t looking for Jesus on the ballot.
She is a JESUIt trained leftist and their goals are always the same and have nothing to do with Jesus. They are taught to complicate and legalize things so they create themselves revenue in the process until they suck it and you dry .
Not one Christian thing about her or the people who trained her

She wants Hitlery elected because Hitlery thinks like she does and will help her and those like her put more rules on you that they can leach off of .

THAT IS EXACTLY what the Jesuits train people to do.
Put people in bondage so they can rip you off.

I've heard Trumps comments on Christianity and, setting aside all denominational issues, I have a hard time believing he even understands was the basic idea of salvation through Christ even means. Regardless, I do believe him to be more trustworthy as a defender of Christians than Hillary will be

Exactly. The need to sanctify the man by Christians is inexplicable.
